I got food poisoning. Throwing up for hours. I should have checked the recent reviews on this place. I remember the lady with darker skin was being extremely rude when my order was being taken and after I ate it I was sick all night. Never going to a five guys again.

I visited five Guys Sycamore on 12/16/2025 at 11:15 am, I was customer number 2, There were 3 employees working, A 20 something black man, a 20 something white man and a young white woman. I only mention race to identify them. The black man took my order, I have never had a five Guys milkshake, I saw the advertisement says " hand-supn milkshakes. I looked up Five guys milkshakes and it says they use real milk and real ice cream. I asked the man if he could make me a vanilla milkshake thin not too thick, he said yes, I then told him I wanted a hamburger tomato and mayo only, he repeated back to me, cheeseburger Ketchup and mayo, I corrected him, he then had trouble understanding the rest of my order, We got it worked out and I paid, 38.90, for 1 hamburger, 1cheeseburger, a little fry and a milkshake. At this point it is still not busy, The white man is the only really person working and seems to be the only one who knows what he is doing, the woman is just sort of wondering around while the black man takes what is clearly a personal call next to the cash register, He was talking loud enough for me to hear him talking to the person on the other end about their relationship, he continued to talk on the phone when another customer came in, the woman went to the counter and took their order. I continued to watch them work, well, I watched the white guy work while the black guy was still on the phone. When my order was complete, the black guy who was now off the phone, bagged up my order and brought it over to me, minus the milkshake. I reminded him of the milkshake, he said oh, yeah, he went to the milkshake station in front of the store, I was standing right there, he took a cup and put what I know to be soft serve in the cup and gave it to me, he says, I can't control how thick it is, however when I ordered it he said he could make it thin. This was clearly not a hand-spun milkshake, it was soft serve in a cup, I googled hand-spun milkshake, It is described as " milkshake made by physically scooping real ice cream, milk and other ingredients into a blender and making it to order, funny thing is google shows a picture of a Five Guys milkshake, So what happened here? I know it is the start of the day, people have things going on and this was not earth shattering stuff, except it was not busy, I was customer number 2 and I had a simple order and I paid 38.90 for it, that is a good deal of money for lunch, is it too much to expect to get what I ordered, especially the whole milkshake thing, I feel five guys does do milkshakes the way they advertise, I feel the black guy just didn't want to do it right, maybe he was upset I didn't leave a tip, maybe it was because I am white, Im not sure why he wouldn't complete my order properly. I do know Five Guys is not worth 38.90 to be treated like this, Culver's has a great cheese burger as well, and DQ does mix their milkshakes by hand, they do use soft serve but they make it to order the way I want it. Times are hard Five Guys, do better, do what you say you are gong to do. Hire better employees

I don’t usually review places but this place has gone downhill fast. I was getting my drink when I saw the lady who looked to be in charge come out of the bathroom with gloves and go back to immediately handling food. I could not believe it. I didn’t want to ask for a refund but I knew I wasn’t coming back to this place. Ended up just throwing it away. I watched her handle the fries and the burgers with gloves that had been on in a bathroom. This place was awesome before and now it’s disgusting. Plus I saw employees fighting and one was even arguing with a customer. 1/5

I love the food however I’ve noticed a few times I’ve come in how in how strange some of the employees are. Second, sanitary issues not changing gloves after dealing w the register and then going to grab bread and what not. Disgusting
