  I visited Sushi by Bou in the Gold Coast at Claridge House and had an impressive omakase experience. The intimate counter seating created a focused, personal atmosphere, and each piece of sushi was served at peak freshness with careful attention to detail. The chef paced the meal well, explaining selections briefly but thoughtfully. Fish quality was excellent and the flavors were clean and refined. It felt like a hidden gem for a quick but elevated sushi experience in Chicago.

  We choose to go to the Gold Coast Chicago location. The place is small and intimate with Art deco lounge atmosphere and energetic music. We were able to join one of their bluefin tuna carving event. Where the chefs cut and break down the whole tuna and serve the guest fresh cut sashimi, nigiri and handrolls. We were a party of and some of us were able to participate in scrapping the tuna meat from the bones. The event is all you can eat. There was so much food that we had to turn down Chutoro and Otoro. Can you believe that. Sake is served at the event or you can purchase cocktails.

  My husband took me to Sushi by Bou for my birthday dinner and wow… I’m still thinking about it!! From the moment we sat down the entire team made the experience feel so personal and celebratory. They were so easy to talk to, super welcoming, and Maddie even gave us fun recommendations for what we should do after dinner to keep the birthday going. Watching the chef prepare each piece of sushi right in front of us was honestly mesmerizing. The level of craftsmanship was beautiful to watch — it felt like dinner and a show. He shared that he has been a sushi chef since 1997 & the experience shows in every bite. Every piece was incredibly fresh, perfectly balanced, and one of those meals where you pause after a bite and just go “okay… wow.” You can tell the people here genuinely love what they do and want their guests to have an amazing experience. I left feeling very full, very happy, and very grateful my husband picked such a great birthday spot. Highly recommend if you want incredible sushi and a memorable night out!!

  Showed up for our reservation, hostess was intoxicated (by her own admission, said she had to partake on St Patrick's day) and didn't seem to notice us as she was talking with a friend. After standing there for 5 mins, he finally redirected her to engage us and she asked us to take a seat. 10 mins later we were told it would be another 10-20 mins before they could seat us. Weren't interested in being seated 30 mins after our reservation time while the loud, drunk hostess carried on. Didn't end up eating but don't be fooled by the website. Nothing upscale about what really just seems to be a glorified hotel bar.
