The food was good, nothing mind blowing, but not complaining about that, the ambiance a usual Italian style… where I felt a little miffed was all the separate charges for all the little things… e.g. my husband ordered a vodka pasta and the waiter asked does he want sausage, peas, etc. as if it is part of the pasta, then when we got the bill each thing he asked about was all a separate charge. It’s the principle of the matter not the price of every little nickel and dimming. Also, what is this surcharge? What are all these hidden things? While the waiters were nice, even though I mentioned we were celebrating 2 birthdays at least 2 times as well as in the reservation…not sure why they only acknowledged 1 birthday. Unless again it was about the nickel and dimming. Also, as a side note, the little chocolate cake they offered my son was so small… yet they came with 5 dishes for sharing… Huh? So again the waiter “suggests” more desserts… thinking it would be small like that piece of cake, he steers us to 2 more desserts… they are HUGE. While that is theoretically nice… Most waiters at other high end places will mention hey they are pretty big, as to alert you in case you are full… but nope… Anyways, all in all did not like the feeling of being had in the end. Definitely would go elsewhere for good pasta and upfront pricing.

Cozy spot in the West Loop with amazing Italian food and friendly service. The pasta is flavorful, portions are generous, and the desserts are a perfect finish. Great for a date night or casual dinner with friends.

Service was on point. The grilled calamari was a nice change of pace to start the meal which melted in your mouth (veal Parm). The cake was the perfect blend of decadent and delicious.

What’s good? The food! Old school Italian entrees in a fast paced, vibrant atmosphere. This place is not trying to redo Italian, it makes good Italian food. Great first Alston in West Loop. It was full but not crowded and the there were all types of people—big parties, young, old, people on a date, family. Bread service free, a long wine by the glass list—thank you, plenty of apps, sides and the entrees you want to see.

What a fantastic experience for our huge office dinner! We had 35 people and were comfortably set up in the semi-private dining area right across from the bar. The service was absolutely fantastic—they handled our large group flawlessly! We kicked things off with a round of shared appetizers: calamari, a meatball salad, and sausage & peppers. Everything was really good. For my entree, I went with the linguine with white sauce (a must-have for me!). Just a heads-up: the portions are massive! I guess that's the Chicago way. We finished with an incredible dessert spread, including cannoli, tiramisu, and cakes (pistachio, chocolate, and strawberry). Seriously, those cake slices were gigantic. The pistachio cake was the clear winner for me—so delicious!
