Ordered a waffle with strawberries and bananas. I got a waffle with strawberries and bananas and two different really sweet syrups drizzled over the fruit and whipped cream. It was pretty good if you're looking for dessert. I was looking for breakfast. I also ordered an egg over medium. I got two eggs for $8. My huband had an ok omelet. The bill totaled over a hundred dollars for a basic breakfast for 3 people (with no juice, 2 black coffees). They added a 20% tip to the bill! We likely would have tipped close to that, but felt it was very presumptuous of them to add it to the bill themselves. This is the only restaurant in chicago that did that in our three days staying here. Our server was great. Our Uber driver chuckled that this is a tourist trap and the locals wouldn't go there. Would not recommend.

Amazing brunch spot with the best mimosa towers! Everything was delicious, from the food to the drinks, and the presentation was on point. The mimosa towers were such a fun touch and perfect for celebrating. This is a great place to take someone for their birthday or any special occasion. The atmosphere was lively, the service was great, and we had an awesome time. Highly recommend for brunch lovers! 🥂

We were in town for a quick trip and visited the new River North location. We enjoyed the food on our last trip at their original location so we decided to try the new one for my sis-in-law’s bday brunch. Be sure to make reservations ahead of time as most brunch places on Sat/Sundays can get packed quickly. While we had reservations for noon on Sunday, when we arrived it was not super busy yet. The hostess greeted us although a bit dry, and then she seated us. The decor and atmosphere is top tier at this location. The waitress came out shortly after being seated and was prompt. They let us move from a table to a booth. Although we should’ve just stayed at the table because the booth was very tight for a group of 4. The food came out at perfect timing and temps, no complaints there.
The food- OMG the food! Each couple shared the Cajun fried deviled eggs and let’s just say I was dreaming of those things and look forward to returning just for those alone because that is how delicious they were! The shrimp was good quality, plump and cooked nicely and the coating on the egg was crisp and tasty. I had the strawberry banana French toast and ate it all! The bread choice is perfect as it was very light and fluffy. The dish was not too sweet and overall delightful. The others had breakfast skillets and all said they enjoyed their food as well. I’ve also had their gumbo fish and grits and banana pudding waffles with chicken, and mimosa flights at the other location and everything was great. Highly recommend this place for a nice brunch.

A Southern Comfort Breakfast Worth the Trip
Toast IT IZ delivers an exceptional southern comfort food experience that makes it a must-visit breakfast spot in Chicago. The menu features all the classics you'd hope for—biscuits and gravy, grits, waffles, and pancakes—each prepared with care and quality ingredients.
I ordered the chicken and banana pudding waffles, and they exceeded all expectations. The combination of savory chicken with the sweet banana pudding waffles, topped with fresh bananas and crumbled cookies, was absolutely amazing. The flavors worked together beautifully, creating that perfect sweet and savory balance that makes breakfast special.
What really elevated our experience was the outstanding service from Darren H. He was attentive throughout our meal, keeping our coffee cups consistently full and checking in at just the right moments. Great service like this makes a good meal memorable.
Toast IT IZ has earned a spot on our Chicago must-visit list. We're already looking forward to our next breakfast there on our next trip to the city. Highly recommended for anyone craving authentic southern comfort food in a welcoming atmosphere.

I waited 1 hour and 45 minutes for food. The orders came out in pieces for us all. We sat without water and silverware for a long while. Some of us were finished eating by the time the rest of the food came out for others. When my food came out it was not hot and was hard on the top like it had been sitting under a heating lamp.
Not worth the wait! The food was ok at best and sloppy.
The music and atmosphere is a vibe. The 1 mimosa is had was ok and still took a very long time to get to me.
I won't be back for food never.
