Usually I love to give grace but this experience was by far the worst I’ve ever encountered at any restaurant. The ambience was beautiful and being that it was black owned I was all for it ! when it came down to the guest service and the amount of time I waited for my food 1hr & 6 minutes to be exact ! I’m completely blown At the lack of consideration, communication and professionalism. I will never return or recommend I promise you . It’s a way you treat customers and this was absolutely not it .

My friend and I decided to catch up over some delicious food, and after hearing about Soul Vibez figured let's try it! Initially stepping into the establishment the vibe was good, I'd never been anywhere that offered a separate menu for vegans and I thought that was pretty cool displaying their range of dishes. The host was very polite and sat us at the bar, where Dillon would be our server. Once Dillon had a moment, he came over with menus and said that he'd be right back. We looked over it and sat for a while before having an order for beverages made, and he asked if we were ready for food as well. We were ready to order but wanted his thoughts on the salmon bites for an appetizer, his response was very uninterested and decided on his own that we weren't ready and walked away to the other end of the bar. Taken aback by the interaction, my friend and I continued with our conversation and brushed this moment off. Roughly 30 minutes into our dining experience, we received waters and then our cocktails. While we had Dillon momentarily, we went ahead and placed our orders for appetizers/ entrees. This was the last time we had any engagements with Dillon until we had to stop him to ask for our check, as he never checked in on us to see how things were. Even then, the wait for our check felt like forever.. He obnoxiously flirted with the mom and daughter duo seated next to us, and ultimately felt like because we weren't thirsting over him like others seated at the bar our business didn't matter to him. Time passes and our appetizers come out, at first glance the soul rolls ($14) looked good, though after taking bites it wasn't full of flavors. It only tasted like sweet potato rolls because that flavor outshined both the macaroni and cheese/ collard greens. Six grilled salmon bites for $18 being the size of quarter; far from worth it. Once our entrees were ready, another server brought us our food. I was missing one of my sides and I had no issue waiting for it, though when it was brought to me it literally looked like it was thrown together and was very messy. The food wasn't bad, but nothing was packed with flavors like the menu descriptions claimed. The cocktails tasted like syrup and alcohol, not much of a smooth blend. The atmosphere was quite interesting, the lighting felt more so like a diner with illuminated walls decorations giving a splash of color. The music choice felt all over the place, and didn't actually create a particular vibe. Even more so there was a moment where the restaurant went silent, and there was a noticeable vibe shift as the music stopped playing and all Tv screens displayed a code for Airplay for someone to connect to it. Overall not a good experience by far I would not recommend to anyone. There is also an automatic 18% service charge added on your bill, and was prompted to include an additional tip after the horrible service we'd just experience. Crazy... Total came out to $158.29 for two people.

I didn’t even get to try the food, but we arrived at this location and before anything the managers say just to let you know it’s a 2 hour wait on fooood lol. First off that’s crazy especially if you take reservations just a bunch of ppl no food. Anyway tho, went to the other location on Chicago and they was not taking anymore take outs or sitting . It’s 8:11 the place closes at 9pm more on the site does it say the kitchen closed before then. Could probably get a lot more done if the guys doing take out actually cared and one of the servers just sitting down being lazy. Multiple people left I’ll try again another time .

I’d like to start by saying, I waited 50 minutes for a takeout order. And I’m not exaggerating, that was the time stamp on the screen when the host handed me my food. Though I was frustrated, I will admit that most of my food was good. I had the southern catfish which was seasoned and grilled to perfection. The yams were not too sweet (the way I like them) and the mac and cheese was delicious. I don’t even care for mac and cheese, but this one was made so well. However, the collard greens were just okay, the cornbread was dry, and the peach cobbler was disgusting. I’m giving them a 4 because the main dishes (catfish, yams, and mac and cheese) were 4 worthy. However, I wouldn’t recommend them for baked goods.

Wow, what a letdown. I went out with a friend expecting a nice dinner atmosphere for great conversation. Instead we got very poor service, lackluster overpriced food, and forgettable drinks. The atmosphere was very cheap looking, complete with fake plants everywhere and the dreaded grass wall. The lighting was overly bright to where it felt like we were in a diner rather than a nice restaurant. We were sat at the end of the bar right next to the service window. A very awkward view. Our server and bartender, Dillon, greeted us ok. However, the rest of the service was poor. Low energy and we watched it change as he flirted with a group next to us. We also waited for what felt like an eternity to check out. And we were NOT told to have a good night. Frankly, he hardly interacted with us at all. The menu itself was overpriced as the food tasted like something I could have made at home. Except I could have done better and have had better at family functions. Not to mention $18 salmon bites which turned out to be what looked like a half salmon cut into 8 uneven pieces. If I could give zero stars, I would. A waste of $80. Everything was mid or bad. 0/10 would NOT recommend. One of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in a while.
