  I’m extremely disappointed with how this restaurant handled our reservation. We made a standard reservation two months in advance (booked a month ago for March 14), specifically outside of the listed 7–11am ticketed event window. We were planning to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day as well as a friend’s birthday, and at the time of booking there was no indication that our reservation would require a prepaid ticket or be part of a limited, fixed-menu experience. Now, less than three weeks before our reservation, we received a message stating that we must pay $260 upfront to keep the reservation and that the menu would be limited. While I completely understand that St. Patrick’s Day is a busy time for restaurants and that they may have later decided a ticketed format makes more operational sense, standard reservations should never have been released if that was the plan. Changing the terms of a confirmed reservation this close to the date feels like a bait and switch and a last-minute money grab. We decided to cancel and make other arrangements. Very disappointing experience.

  We enjoyed the food/drinks and service here! It was the perfect place for us to have a chill but elevated anniversary brunch ☺️

  You guys/ladies are out of your mind on your price points on everything, your not in New York or LA....all the best, good luck Also as a side note, I suggest you take a meat thermometer with you.... Looks like you did a kickass job on Thanksgiving

  For the first time my wife and I, Would definitely come back. Our waiter kept in touch with us pretty often and made sure our glasses were full. Appreciate all the staff and management!! WILL COME BACK AGAIN

  ASK FOR JIMMY My wife and I came to Chicago to celebrate our one-year wedding anniversary. While walking along the river, we stopped on a bridge and noticed a cat nearby naturally, we couldn’t help but give it some attention. That little moment led us to walk into River Roast, where we decided to sit down for a coffee. From the moment we sat down, our experience was elevated by our beyond amazing server, Jimmy. His kindness, attentiveness, and genuine care set the absolute gold standard for what a server should be. I’ve been to multiple five-star restaurants, and honestly, Jimmy makes many of those servers look like newbies. Ernesto, the manager, was also fantastic. He reassured us that the cat is well taken care of and made it clear that River Roast truly puts customers first. If you’re visiting Chicago or even if you’re local do yourself a favor and come to River Roast. Ask for Jimmy, and you’ll receive nothing short of the best treatment and an unforgettable experience. To the owners and leadership team: employees like Jimmy and Ernesto are the reason guests come back and tell stories like this. They represent your brand at the highest level and deserve recognition, appreciation, and yes A RAISE. Talent like this is invaluable.
