We may have been on an off night our steak was off and we decided not to finish it. Our server was overwhelmed with tables and an obnoxious customer but did their best. Valet was clueless when trying to pick our car up which can be a little stressful but a little mix up was okay. The part they sat us in needed cleaned and maintained better.

My husband and I visited Morton’s the evening before Valentine’s Day (February 13th) with a 7:30 p.m. reservation, hoping for a cozy and memorable date night experience. Upon arrival, valet service was smooth and check-in was efficient. The front desk staff informed us they were running behind schedule and estimated a 20–30 minute wait, but we were pleasantly surprised to be seated after about 15 minutes. Unfortunately, our table was located just past the check-in desk in a space that felt less intimate than expected for a special-occasion dinner. I want to highlight that our server, Charles, was exceptional. He was attentive, knowledgeable, and clearly experienced with both the menu and drink selections. He timed our courses thoughtfully, allowing us to enjoy conversation and truly settle into the evening without feeling rushed. His professionalism and hospitality were the highlight of our visit. The issue arose later in the evening due to the very tight table spacing. It appeared that tables had been rearranged to accommodate additional two-top reservations, resulting in extremely close proximity between diners. When another couple was seated next to us, their assigned server began servicing them from the narrow space between our tables. For an extended period, she repeatedly squeezed between us, leaning and bending in a way that placed her body uncomfortably close to us during conversations and food service. At one point, my husband had to move our glasses to prevent them from being knocked over. The situation escalated when she bent at the waist to serve food, placing herself directly in my husband’s personal space. Feeling uncomfortable, I addressed her directly and asked that she avoid positioning herself in that way near our table. She did not acknowledge the request and continued service before speaking with a manager. When the manager approached us, I was disappointed by the response. Rather than first focusing on understanding our discomfort and working toward a solution, he immediately defended the server’s intentions. As someone who manages large teams professionally, I believe guest concerns should be met first with empathy and problem-solving rather than debate. We were offered the option to move tables moments before our entrées arrived, which did not feel like a practical solution given that the issue centered on service approach and spacing rather than our seating itself. After we declined, the server was reassigned, though the transition was handled loudly and awkwardly, which added further discomfort. Overall, while Charles provided outstanding service and did everything possible to ensure we had a positive experience, the atmosphere felt overcrowded and somewhat rushed, and the management response to our concern was disappointing. The food itself was good but did not stand out compared to other Chicago steakhouses we’ve enjoyed, such as Tre Dita and RPM Steak. For a premium steakhouse experience, especially on a special date night, I expected a more thoughtful dining environment and stronger guest-focused management.

I visited Morton’s Steakhouse on Valentine’s Day, and unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing—especially considering this was my first time dining there. To start, the restaurant was clearly over capacity. After valet had already shut down due to the volume of guests, we were still patiently waiting for our table, only to be told it had been given away. That was incredibly frustrating and set the tone for the rest of the evening. Once seated, the service did not improve. Our waitress was not attentive, and it took an excessive amount of time just to receive our drinks and appetizers. Throughout the night, we felt overlooked rather than cared for. What made it more disappointing was that Valentine’s Day should feel special. Instead, it felt like the focus was on maximizing profits rather than ensuring guests had an enjoyable and memorable experience. For a restaurant that markets itself as luxury dining, I expected a much higher level of service and hospitality. To make matters worse, the quality of the food did not meet expectations. It was very underwhelming and far from what I anticipated from a restaurant of this reputation. Overall, I left completely upset with the experience. I truly hope Morton’s takes feedback like this seriously and works toward improving both service and quality, especially on high-volume holidays when expectations are even higher.

Very mixed experience here. The food is AMAZING, so are the drinks from the bar. The wait time and service was disappointing. Our hostesses were awesome despite the long wait for our reservation (there were lots of groups also waiting for a table despite having a reservation). Our server neglected to observe our request for a birthday acknowledgment of any kind, and was terse when we approached him for any special requests. The moment we stopped ordering more rounds of drinks, he stopped checking on us and his attitude fell off a cliff. We were left wondering if we asked for too much or if he was sulking because we wanted to try the restaurant week menu (which is a lower tab cost than the normal menu and therefore a lower tip/gratuity). Other local non chains steakhouses will honor special occasion requests with at least a verbal wishing well, dessert, etc. not sure why Morton’s felt they were too good to do anything for a paying customer who chose them to celebrate a special day.

This review is for the promotional they were running called Bubbles and Bites in the bar. This promo had been running the month of January and The Doctor, The Queen and I decided to go down and check it out. The idea of getting a "Happy Meal" in Veuve Clicquot boxes with a glass of Veuve had me dialed in. We got there at 4 pm and as we round the corner, I saw people already walking in. So glad we go there when we did be cause it filled up very quickly and I noticed that some spots at the bar and a few tables had reserve signs on them. Morton's Bubbles & Bites promotion paired a glass of Veuve Clicquot 'Yellow Label' or a Belvedere Martini with smash burger sliders (cheddar cheese, dill pickles, ‘Special Sauce,’ Brioche Bun) and matchstick fries with truffle and parmesan for $29. When you think about what a glass of Veuve cost, this was a steal as far as I was concerned. The burgers were their smash burgers and they were very good. I was happy to see the size of them, as along with the fries, it was easily a light dinner. As we didn't know at the time what we would be getting in terms of the portion, we also order the short rib tacos (braised short ribs, pickled red onion, sliced avocado, chipotle mayonnaise). The Happy Meals came out in these very cute Veuve Yellow boxes for the burgers and a fry holder for the fries. Both containers were placed on what looked like a charging plate with a serving of ketchup for the fries (nope nope nope). The burger, fries and tacos were delish and hit the spot for a light dinner. The short rib meat on the tacos was very tender and I loved the slice of fresh avocado. And there is no need to discuss how lovely the Veuve was as that goes without saying. Despite it being a full house at the bar, Emma (bartender) was totally on point in getting drinks and taking orders. She was not only working the bar, she was working the tables in the bar area as well. As it got closer to 5:30 pm, more help came in, but Emma was werking that area. Not sure what role Jesse played, but assumed he was a front room person since he and another gentleman were in suits, but helping out. Emma and Jesse (excuse me if that is not how you spell your name) were very responsive in taking care of us. We got to chat with Jesse a little bit about the promotion and I mentioned to him that I saw where Bubbles & Bites was unavailable in Atlanta from January 26-28. He didn't know why, I was just glad it was going strong in Chicago. Jesse mentioned that Morton's might be doing other theme related promotions like this centered around holidays, like St Pat's or Cinco de Mayo. I would definitely check those out. So glad we came out and had a great time with our Happy Meals. Looking forward to doing this promo next year. "Vive la différence"!
