  As much as I would love to give Jewel a 5-star review because it truly is my go-to store… I feel the need to speak up about an ongoing issue. I used to shop at the 106th Street location, and since it closed, I’ve been willing to drive a little farther because I generally enjoy shopping here. However, I’ve noticed a consistent and uncomfortable pattern with some of the men who handle the carts inside and outside the store. At first, I tried to ignore it, but after multiple experiences, I can no longer stay silent. I hate to even bring up race, especially since my spouse is Black, but the difference in treatment has been noticeable. Every time I return my cart and attempt to hand it to them, I’m met with mumbled comments, the cart being snatched from me, and an attitude as if I’ve done something wrong. Meanwhile, I’ve observed the same employee walking up to African American women, greeting them, and taking their carts without issue. Today was the final straw. As I was walking into the store, I watched the same employee actively handing carts to other women. He had a cart in his hand, pushed it forward, then looked at me as if I didn’t belong. I calmly said, “It’s okay, I don’t need a cart anyway,” but the interaction left me feeling singled out and uncomfortable. For context, I want to add that I’ve personally paid for the groceries of three elderly African American women at this very Jewel Osco. This is not about race in a negative way—it’s about respect, fairness, and basic human decency. I truly enjoy shopping at Jewel and would love to continue doing so, but I respectfully ask that management ensure all employees treat every customer equally and with courtesy, regardless of race or background.

  The management for online pickup is extremely disrespectful and unprofessional! I would not recommend shopping here online.

  This store sucks. They’re always out of something like boneless chicken breast and then their steaks do not look well. They always look old. A lot of their food is owe. Everything is old and they always have boxes in the aisle, but then they’re not putting anything up which is a counterintuitive do yourself a favor and just go to Pete’s because the store has been run downhill.
