  If you go to grocery store and have to check the expiration date on everything you buy and have to deal with apathy of the employees don’t waste your time.

  As of 3//2026, sadly, the "contact us" link on the J/O webpage DOES NOT OPERATE. What is that about? +++ This is a smaller "marketplace" branch, so the selection is not as wide as one of the full sized Jewel locations. But it has a solid selection for its size. Produce is good. However, the service is very weak. At my last visit, there were at least 5 individuals milling about the entrance, one of whom appeared to be security (in an orange vest), however, all of whom were just gabbing. In the store, I found two staffers putting up a new display, but gabbing socially with a third person who was clearly not staff nor customer. When I asked one of these staffers for a product location, I received a very brusk and rude "I'm sorry I can't help you". On checking out, the group that was previously congregating around the entrance appeared to have relocated to the checkout area, a group of folks socializing, unclear who was staff and who was on duty. None focused on customers. It's hard to believe this branch has the same rating as the store at Roosevelt and Ashland, which is exemplary in staff, produce and selection.

  Very alarming and disturbing to hear homophobic rants from one of the cashiers.VERONICA She kept stating very loudly.. “the man was gay, that was the problem!!” How can someone work in a public place yelling homophobic hate speech. I won’t return there, since they allow ignorant, unprofessional conduct by their cashiers. Veronica should not be working with the public.

  Women and general safety in danger: Watched in horror as two men loudly, openly and relentlessly heckled and sexually harassed a cashier for several minutes, while security guards stood around laughing. When an onlooker asked the security guards to help, they did nothing and continued joking with each other. Feb 4, 2026 approximately 11 p.m. It is clear that this store has so little respect for its employees and patrons that there is no priority for security to do anything other than stand around talking or chase homeless people out of the store into the lobby or parking lot for them to continue harassing customers from there. Very sad display of management. I appreciate the response from Jewel. However, I was prompted to write a review only after several (at least 5 or more) similar observations at this branch. I, personally, have been harassed by the many loitering persons allowed around the store. Security inside is almost systematically disinterested. One can only conclude that management is also not interested. The open testimony is well overdue, and this store has been in rapid decline for several years. It is approaching emergency status.
