About a year ago we visited Giordano’s and ordered the Special deep dish pizza. We couldn’t finish the half of it after eating 1 piece each because there were hard small pieces like 1-3 millimeters long we couldn’t chew in all over the pizza, which seemed some type of bone pieces that might came from the sausage. The white spec on the table shown in the picture was one of them. I brought up the issue and the server lady said the manager was not available, which turned out a lie. The manager was even worse. He said it would haven’t been us only who would complain if there had been bone pieces contained in the pizza. He also said the money paid will be refunded which didn’t happen. The dough seemed undercooked and soggy and my daughter and I had diarrhea later that day. The wait time until seated was ok like 30 mins but the wait time until the food showed up took slightly more than 1 hr. We understood though because the restaurant was completely packed that day.

We were visiting one night in Chicago and decided to eat at Giodarnos due to the reviews and variety of food options. We were highly disappointed in the service. We were a party of 15 and knew there would be a wait. We were told 30 min wait. 30 min wait turned into an hour. Finally when we did get our table waitress did not come around to provide drinks until about 10-15 min after being sat. She then came to verify our pizza orders. Retuned another 5-10 min to relay there was an error on one of the pizzas and stated there would be another 45 min wait to make. Decided to proceed without and ordered a hand tossed reg pizza. Still did not get our drinks until our table inquired. Was provided cold hand tossed pizza. I have a feeling had been done for some time due to the deep dish error. Very disappointed with the service and food fettuccine did not have any flavor and the chicken texture is like rubber. Not sure why our experience was so terrible but we will never go back again. Our bill came close to 150$ and to have had experienced this terrible service I would NOT recommend to friends or family NOT worth the hype!!!!

Very generic, bland and overpriced, not worth the hype. The clanking of metal from the maitre d's mouth was a distraction from the words I could barely understand. The hostess had a mud face on her the entire time, even when helping other people, like she just didn't want to be there. Our waitress, God bless her, was running around frantic the entire time, asking us if we were okay, I felt like asking "hun, are YOU okay?" and this is before they got busy yesterday. The bus boy sneezed under the collar of his shirt and proceeded to stair at me for a good minute, then went back to holding the door for someone. We wanted to order a deepdish but we were told it would take 45 minutes to make so we ordered a traditional which we were told would be soft but ended up being crispy with a crust that was hard to chew. My kids liked their pizza, the meat w/meat, but I found the bbq chicken was overpowered with the taste of the balsamic and thick slices of onion, there was no medley of flavors. The normal pizza took 35 minutes, which is only 10 less then a deep dish. For 10 minutes more I would have taken a deepdish had it been presented to me that way. We ordered 1 appetizer 1 pizza and 4 drinks to a tune of $80, not including tip, which I did leave. The calamari appetizer was the best part though they add filler of deepfried lemons instead of more calamari. Overall, I fould the staff to be poorly managed and undesirable to have around. We made the most of it though, we politely ate our food, paid the bill and left.

We came into the downtown Chicago Giordano’s about 40 minutes before closing on a Saturday night. Plenty of people were still eating, and the host said we could sit — but then handed me a contract to sign because our group had eight people. It stated they could only split the bill four ways and that a 20% automatic gratuity would be added. I’ve eaten in a lot of places and have never had to sign a contract just to sit down. Odd start, but we went with it. Once seated, the waiter warned us that deep-dish could take up to an hour and strongly recommended we order a pub-style pizza if we didn’t want to wait. Another staff member came by later with the same message and encouraged us to order appetizers “right away” — definitely some heavy upselling. We decided to order one deep dish and one pub-style. Here’s the ironic part: The deep dish — the one they insisted would take forever — came out FIRST and was actually good. The pub-style — the one they pushed us toward — came out several minutes later burnt, with pepperoni so charred it tasted worse than a frozen pizza. Truly disappointing. When I told the waitress, she looked at me like it was no big deal and immediately offered free desserts (tiramisu, etc.). We weren’t there for free sweets — we just wanted good pizza after a fun night out. Being brushed off felt dismissive. The biggest frustration is this: We were required to sign a contract agreeing to a mandatory 20% gratuity before we even sat down… and then we were served a pizza that wasn’t remotely worthy of that level of tip, paired with upselling and poor service. The deep dish saved this from being a one-star review, but overall the experience felt backwards — pressured, inconsistent, and not reflective of the quality Giordano’s is known for.

To start with the good part: the pizza was excellent. It was my first time trying an authentic Chicago style deep dish, and it really showed me what this style of pizza is supposed to taste like. Everything from the crust to the cheese to the sauce was perfect. There was nothing I could criticize about the food. Unfortunately, the service was a completely different story. I understand that Chicago pizza takes time to prepare, so the wait for the food did not bother me at all. However, everything after that was unreasonably slow. My drink took a very long time to arrive, and when I asked for a refill, it took so long that I began wondering whether the server had even placed the order. The restaurant was not very busy, yet even after several reminders, the server kept forgetting our requests. It was frustrating and felt very unprofessional. The part that truly upset me happened at the end. The pizza cost around 25 to 28 dollars, so when it was time to leave, we asked for the check. Even receiving the check took an unnecessarily long time. As someone who has worked in the restaurant industry, I know how quick and simple it is to print a bill, so waiting that long felt unreasonable and disappointing. Since our total was not high, we decided that leaving about a 15 percent tip, which came to 3.74 dollars, was fair. However, when the server saw the tip, they seemed unhappy and actually returned the money to us in cash, almost as if they were saying they did not want a tip that small. It felt extremely unprofessional and quite disrespectful. In the end, although the food was truly delicious, the service was one of the worst I have experienced. If I ever eat from this restaurant again, I would rather order takeout and enjoy the food at home.
