What the heck is going on inside of this McDonald's? Weirdest McDonald's experience I've ever had. I place an order within the mobile app during normal business hours, then go inside the restaurant to pick it up. The place is full of people which is a good sign, people must like this location. As I enter this location just like I have walked into any other McDonald's restaurant all my life, all eyes on me, all of the men inside instantly look at me and mean mug me in an intimidating manner, I think well, there are a lot of weird people around here that will just stare at you even though it's perceived as confrontational, rude, or threatening in western culture, none of them seem to be from a western country and it's a diverse multicultural area, so whatever maybe that's just how they are and it's normal for them (but no it wasn't normal and I would find that out in a moment, perhaps I should've read the room & used some intuition / street smarts), and I continue walking inside. Before I can even get halfway to the front counter, a masked up man with his face covered (Covid was more the like half a decade, it's been years since anyone has mentioned it, so what's with the mask? Strange) runs at me & approaches me in an extremely hostile manner and urgently grabs me (which is in itself illegal, you're not allowed to put your hands on people) to literally throw me out of the McDonald's building like a bouncer and oddly yells at me repeatedly saying "you gotta go" as if I did something wrong with no explanation, meanwhile all of the rest of the 20-30+ patrons are all watching me, talking about me amongst themselves, and yelling at me in Spanish like a mob, and laughing at me, (every single man inside is speaking in Spanish except for the one who said 3 words to me while putting his hands on me to forcefully remove me & shove me outside, so I can only assume that all the people inside are all together). Once they threw me out of the building that is full of other people (customers maybe?), they lock the doors and a couple of the men stand there at the door as if they're guarding a castle. They proceed to only allow people inside if they're part of their group. I was violently thrown out of this place within a matter of seconds with no explanation, so I guess I won't be getting my order for my family or a $60 refund that I should be owed at the very least. There doesn't seem to be anyway to get refunded in the McDonald's mobile app. I don't know what's going on inside this establishment, but whatever it is, it doesn't seem like they want anybody else who's not a part of their group knowing about it. It looked as if there's a cartel "sit-down" going on inside this place. Seriously, the way those tatted up guys were looking at me is how gang members look at you when they don't like you or you're in their territory unwelcomed, or how East LA inmates stare you down when you walk into the wrong cell block before you get handled.
Whatever it is, this place does not seem to be safe, they don't seem to be serving any McDonald's menu items, and I would highly recommend avoiding this "McDonald's" location. It's definitely sketchy. I hope the actual McDonald's personnel are safe, if there are any of them inside.
McDonald's has gone downhill over the years, but something particularly isn't right here on Green Street at the University of Illinois.
They "don't know" if they have my order, they "don't know" if they're going to be able to make my order, I guess I will just stand here for eternity because apparently they don't know anything.
To be fair, I don't know either, but the difference is I'm on one side of the counter, you're on the other side of the counter, and I'm not on the side where I can check on an order or have access to the orders.
They hire people who are literally useless. I don't know if it's laziness, an intelligence thing, or both, but I guess we'll never know.
I don't know where they find people like this to hire.
