As someone who grew up in a famous European Deli and worked at Campari, I can say that this place is a work of art. The selection is ingenious, the quality and freshness of ingredients used is of highest levels and what is most radiating is the passion of the employees for their own segment. I had conversations with the lady at the cheese section about different varieties, got a great recommendation from the sommelier even for a very hard task of finding a wine that pairs with both brisket and Indian food.
After having visited over 50 countries, I can say that this is my favorite store ever.

It breaks my heart to write anything other than five stars. Art Mart has been a huge part of my life living in CU, even from back when it was in the Lincoln Square mall. I've always loved the croissants, international food options, etc. But today I was very disappointed to see a sign on every table limiting people with laptops to 60 minutes. I completely understand banning or limiting during busy times, like lunch. It is reasonable to ban laptop use between the very busy 11 and 1, as was the rule they had before and I always respected that and have always left before 11. But limiting all laptop use on tables to 60 minutes is absurd and creates a non-welcoming atmosphere. I used to come in frequently to work because I found it a lovely atmosphere with comfortable seating and delicious pastries. I don't even use much internet (since half the time it isn't working anyway). I not only order coffee, but at least one pastry or other food item. I know for a fact that the dining area is not crowded and sometimes nearly empty for the first few hours of operation. And even after that, I have rarely seen a situation where there are no tables available (before 11). And furthermore, I see very few people camped out with laptops at a time. Anyway, am very disappointed and will not return until this silliness is changed.
ETA: I had started to come back a few times because I appreciated what the owner said about the hour restriction on laptops just being a suggestion and keeping awareness about taking up larger tables, etc. However, the current sign is really unfortunate and exclusionary. Absolutely no laptops during the holiday season. I get that there's always people who abuse the system, but this is like punishing a whole classroom for what a few people do. I come in about once a week during a non-busy time for less than 2 hours and sit at a small table. I get food as well as a drink. This last time I came, I had also fully intended to buy extra treats for friends for later. Now I know that I'm not welcome anymore. So my two stars stands (one star only because of tasty pastries). Oh, well, another cafe will get my business.
