- BSBen ShakmanJan 30, 20264.0This was our local Portillo's when they were west of 53 and we lived less than 5 minutes away. Lots of time together and lots of meals enjoyed. I suppose that having them so near may have caused me to take them for granted. We moved...they moved...we drifted apart, I suppose. It's still special when I'm in the area and stop by for a visit but not quite the same. I suppose it never will be. Love the beef! I get a catering pack of it to take back to STL with me on every visit. Ditto for the chocolate cake. Note to those doing the same: ask them to cut a piece of the cake for you to try. We've had a couple of times where the cake was a bit dry but you don't know that until you cut into it and by then you're 5 hours away. Take my advice...besides, you'll get a snack out of the deal before you hit the road.
