For the prices being charged here, you’d think that after 30 years they’d do some renovations to their bathroom situation but…. Nothing. Folks are great but dude, this has got to change.

Moscow's "O.K.est" grocery store! Coming from Troy I shop here quite frequently - but mostly because everything else is clear on the other side of town. After many years I've finally decided to leave a review for this...satisfactory...location. Prices are higher compared to many other chains but acceptable if you shop the ads and use digital coupons. Sale items are in stock more often than not, but it's not unusual if they aren't. Especially if an item has a digital coupon that gives it for "free". I'd say you can only find that free item 10% of the time - if that. Erich the store manager will tell you that's because it's a smaller store and he can't possibly carry everything that's advertised digitally. Ok - except that doesn't hold true for nearly any of the other dozens and dozens of digital deals. It's only the "Free" item that there mysteriously is never room for. They do put items on clearance which is nice, but they take the maximum price and then discount it by 50%. This is better than nothing of course, but it's not unusual to find the same products on sale for cheaper than the discounted clearance price since the original price is so incredibly high. Locations like Walmart and Fred Meyer have a much better clearance policy. Staffing levels are again ok. Wait times aren't bad usually but can be - it's rare to see more than two full-service registers ever open at once, and there aren't baggers like you'd see at places like Fred Meyer. The pharmacy has gotten a LOT better than it used to be in years past when lines were clear down the aisle, but often doesn't have the staff to open a second register when it does get bad or when there are a bunch of walk-ins for vaccinations. I've had almost all good experiences with the various departments like meat and bakery and deli, but I have had a couple real stinkers as well. I've only felt the need to contact corporate twice in over 8 years due to a bad experience, but unlike Kroger, WInco, etc. stores where I am always eventually contacted back, Safeway/Albertsons customer service just ignores you (as evidenced by the lack of any desire for survey input on grocery receipts from this location. Walmart, Winco, Kroger, Target...these Moscow locations all ask for customer feedback on their grocery receipts. Not Moscow Safeway though - unless it's the pharmacy. I suppose Erich already knows what we don't like about the store and he's not going to change it, so why bother wasting time reading about it constantly? Makes sense to me I guess, but this ultimately is the reason the store remains simply mediocre in my mind. It functions at an acceptable level sure, but there are never any improvements made to make it into something better. The staff are friendly enough and helpful, but the couple times I've asked for something that would require more "above and beyond" service (like meat being cut specially in the butcher department) I've been turned down. So no issues - as long as you keep your needs basic. Product selection is fine for a store the size that it is, the website and app are good, and I like that there is a rewards program - although I miss the Monopoly game. Bummer a few people had to ruin that for everyone. Ultimately, this location is acceptable to me and I shop there because it's convenient. There is certainly enough good about it to keep me from passing it by for locations across town. But I'd be dishonest if I said I wasn't disappointed when the Kroger buyout fell through because I know that if it had occurred, this location would have gone from an acceptable store to a very good one. Issues would have been corrected that are tolerated now but really could be fixed if the motivation was there. Do I have a reason to drive past this store to WinCo or Walmart or Rosauers? No. But do I tell people coming from that direction that they should pass by those places to come here? Also no. Take that to mean what you will.
