I had a very disturbing experience while picking up a to-go order at Big Daddy’s Barbecue in Meridian. As I was sitting in the front waiting for my food, an odd man walked in and asked if he could sit down. I let him know I didn’t work there. He then sat directly in front of me at a table and proceeded to stare at me. After about a minute, he got up and sat right next to me on the bench, even though the entire area was open.
He then demanded I buy him food. I respectfully declined and tried to get the staff’s attention, because at that point I was extremely uncomfortable. There were three employees watching this happen from across the restaurant.
I eventually walked to the back and told the staff, “This guy is really odd and is making me uncomfortable.” They said he has been problem recently but did nothing to step in or address the situation.
A few moments later, the man got up again and came over to me a second time, asking for food again. The two male employees standing right in front of me said absolutely nothing, and turned a blind eye to the situation. They made no effort to intervene, redirect him, or ensure I felt safe. I was completely shocked at how little they cared, especially since they acknowledged he had been a problem before.
As a young woman, this situation was genuinely scary. I felt harassed, unprotected, and fully ignored by the staff. I even felt unsafe walking out to my car afterward because of how close this man had gotten to me and how persistent he was.
If this individual has been a known issue, I don’t understand why the restaurant has not taken steps to handle it or protect customers. The lack of response from the staff was unacceptable. It’s safe to say I will not be returning after this experience.

Just worked with Big Daddy BBQ to cater a wedding, and they were fantastic! The food was hot and fresh, and the staff was communicative and kind. I’d definitely use their catering services again!

The smoked wings were overcooked and not tender at all. Couldn’t even really get the meat off the bone. Also only gave me a total of 12 wings in 2 orders. There was supposed to be 16. Really disappointed. I ordered on Sunday afternoon.

Big Daddy’s BBQ – Meridian, ID
After living here for about a year and driving past Big Daddy’s BBQ on Cherry Lane countless times, I finally decided to stop in this past week. I’m a lifelong BBQ fan — always on the hunt for that perfect smoke ring and tender brisket — but unfortunately, this one missed the mark for me.
Let’s start with the positives:
The space itself is great. It’s clean, open, and nicely laid out. We came in around 5 p.m., and while the place was almost empty (just one other guest dining), the staff was friendly and the beer was ice cold — always a good start.
I ordered the three-meat combo plate — brisket, turkey, and jalapeño cheddar sausage — with potato salad and coleslaw on the side.
Turkey: Surprisingly, the best of the bunch. A little dry, but decent flavor and seasoning.
Brisket: Just okay. Tender enough but lacked that deep smoke flavor — no smoke ring visible at all.
Sausage: Honestly the weakest link. It looked and tasted like a basic sausage with almost no smoke character or snap. For a place selling BBQ, that’s a letdown.
As for the sides, the potato salad was actually solid — creamy with a bit of pepper and tang, hint of mustard. The coleslaw leaned vinegar-based, which I personally like, and it wasn’t bad.
Overall, though, the meal was just “okay at best.” Nothing outright terrible, but not the kind of BBQ that makes you want to come back or tell your friends about it. I’m still on the hunt for a truly great BBQ spot here in the Treasure Valley — something that brings the smoke, the bark, and the boldness that real BBQ deserves.

I LOVE the brisket. It's so tender it pretty much just falls apart and the seasoning is so delicious you don't even need barbecue sauce (you'll use it anyway because it's delicious too).
Beef is expensive these days so the prices are a bit high but COMPLETELY worth it.
The Mac 'n Cheese is very good, the green beans are VERY smoky, and the mashed potatoes are good.
Big Daddy's BBQ is splurge worthy.
The staff were friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere is laid back.
