  I’m disappointed by the experience we had at Max and Louie’s. Before arriving, the owner Jason told us the wait time would be 1 hour, so we decided to make the 30-minute drive to dine there for breakfast. Once we arrived, we were then told the remaining wait would be 20 to 30 minutes and to watch for a text message when our table was ready. After waiting past that timeframe and receiving no text, we called to check in. Jason then stated that he never told us 1 hour, but instead said 1.5 hours. Rather than acknowledging the confusion or apologizing for the miscommunication, his response was simply that we could continue waiting or leave. We understand restaurants can get busy and wait times may change, but professionalism and customer service matter just as much as the food. A little accountability and courtesy would have gone a long way. Unfortunately, this experience left us feeling that our time was not valued.

  I wouldn't leave less than a good review, but I couldn't find a place to park at 9 am on a Friday morning. I love Boise and in 4 weeks here this is the first time it felt like Portland unfortunately. I found a place with a parking lot instead of eating here. It looks very nice and the surrounding neighborhood is being developed.

  Loved Max and Louie’s and will definitely be back! The owner was SO NICE and even served us a free pancake because we had to move tables to accommodate a larger party (which we were happy to do). Coffee was great, food was delicious, and I love that there are pictures of dogs everywhere. Overall great experience!

  Amazing food and staff. Really kind people making really delicious food. Everything can be made vegan or vegetarian. They have gluten free options and everything we have ever eaten here is really tasty. We brought our dog and were able to eat on the patio with him. Always a great experience!

  This place is so stinkin' cute! Strawberry matcha and lavender latte were very yummy. Friend got the huevos, it came with a mountain of potatoes to conquer but she said it was good. Nothing special. I struggled with the avo toast. Two VERY hefty slices of bread caked with unseasoned guac so thick it could sink a ship. The chimichuri and tomato helped with flavor and the vinegarette on the salad was freakin' delicious. Probably saved the entire dish. I'll def try something different next time. But do not forget to try the ricotta pancake! You thought your head was big, this pancake is bigger (figuratively & literally) We barely finished a single ala carte of a monster but it is delectable. I can't even describe it. Just get it. Overall, great brekkie/brunch/lunch spot, lots of street parking + access to the belt, attentive service, and wide menu selection.
