Excellent place on big island ! There are very few places we visit multiple times during our trip and this was one of them !
For our first visit , we ordered the journey salad and the tacos - both of which were outstanding and so unique. This was on our last day of the trip . We loved this so much that we decided to come back the next day for lunch right before heading to the airport .
This time we ordered the taco salad which is was also amazing .
Also - I am not an ice cream aficionado but the ice cream is soooo amazing ! Like a no frills seriously tasty ice cream. If nothing else- go for the ice cream here . You won’t be disappointed.

Journey Cafe Big Island is an absolute gem! From the moment you step through the lush, plant-draped entrance, the atmosphere is a complete vibe if you just think enchanted garden meets cozy island sanctuary, with twinkling lights, fresh flowers, and that perfect blend of rustic charm and tropical serenity. It’s the kind of place that instantly puts you in vacation mode, even if you’re local.
The food? Next level. I ordered the Loco Moco and it was hands-down one of the best I’ve ever had! It was juicy, locally sourced beef, perfectly cooked rice, rich gravy, and that dreamy egg on top, all made with ingredients so fresh you can taste the aloha in every bite. My bestfriend got the Pesto & Gravy Omelette, and let me tell you, the combo of creamy pesto, savory gravy, and fluffy eggs was pure genius. We were both speechless and that’s says something since we’re always working and talking.
Huge shoutout to owners Jen and Sam—they’re absolutely crushing it. You can feel their passion in every detail, from the handcrafted menu to the warm, genuine hospitality. This isn’t just a cafe; it’s a love letter to organic, local food and good vibes.
If you’re on the Big Island, do yourself a favor and make the journey to Journey Cafe. Five stars isn’t enough this place is magic! 🌿🍳✨

Amazing flavor profile as always! For real, incredibly good 🫶🏽 this place is for foodies who love a cozy, aesthetic experience. Just wish there were more options. Please bring back the falafel, sourdough pizza, & lasagna!! Also wish the price was cheaper (I could do without the “free” drink). Would’ve loved if the tea was sugar-free. Also would’ve loved the option to have a smaller portion of ice cream for half the price. But overall I am always impressed by this spot. Thank you Journey’s 💚
Side note; pay for your parking peeps! I got a ticket in the parking lot (not Journey’s fault of course)
As a local, I would come by a lot more often, probably weekly, even if just for an ice cream if I didn’t also have to pay for parking.

A delightfully cozy spot tucked away across from Kona MarketPlace. Everything about this space exuded charm and intention. The food options were fantastic. Rather than having vegan approximations of non-vegan foods, the kitchen whips up delicious plates that highlight the flavors and textures of every order. We ordered the Journey’s Salad and Poke Nachos. The servers kindly pointed out the free juice bar and the mango juice hit just the right notes: refreshingly bright with a pleasant tartness, and not too sweet.
A word of caution for those with nut allergies coming in: my partner has an allergy to most nuts and had an immediate allergic reaction to something in the salad. Based on the listed ingredients, nothing stood out as an allergen, so we felt safe ordering it. We frequent vegan places, too, and tend to find many dishes that work for us without issue.
As I type this, she has been throwing up regularly for the last hour. It may have been cross contamination or something in the salad components that went unlisted. Either way, please be wary and double check with the servers about your allergies. The other reviews suggest that they are very accommodating!
I would highly recommend a visit; just with a hint more care than we brought. Mahalo!

I came in to try their new menu I used to a regular before I relocated I almost came here everyday when I stayed. I had an issue with my order it seems that it was forgotten about ended up waiting quite a long time. The food was kind of cold when it came out I ordered a crepe maybe it’s supposed to be served colder? I also ordered the açaí bowl which was pretty standard I liked the açaí base (it’s not too sugary 10/10) but not sure about the toppings so much kind of bland, I think I probably should have gotten the add on. I think the place itself looked like they upgraded a ton, looks killler! 🤙
Service was little interesting, the cashier seemed to be really nice. Although It did seem like there was a lot arguing but not sure if that is normal it wasn’t very welcoming, will definitely come back to get açaí and sweet treats!
