  Safeway Kapahulu has everything. The hot food section is awesome, especially if you like breakfast burritos. The donuts are fresh. The self-checkout section is much improved since the initial rollout. I go to this Safeway because the produce section is great. There is an outdoor seating area also, and the lines are usually short.

  Locating a quality grocery store is a priority, and the Safeway in Kapahulu consistently offers an exceptional shopping experience. Having visited this location several times, I have found the atmosphere to be remarkably welcoming and thoroughly impressive. The primary draw here is the superb poke counter, which features an excellent variety of fresh options. Complementing this is a great selection of hot food available by the pound or prepacked, alongside a good sushi selection. It is also worth noting that the prices are quite reasonable for Hawaii standards. The produce section is equally commendable, boasting an excellent choice of fruits that are always fresh. The environment is impeccable. The cleanliness of the store is top-tier, and the restrooms are kept very clean, which is a rare relief during a busy day. I suspect the staff must be fueled by the very poke they sell, given how efficiently they maintain the aisles. The staff is consistently helpful and professional, making every trip easy. I especially appreciate how the Safeway Member discounts make the final total feel like a victory. To conclude, if you are looking for fresh local flavors, this supermarket is a superb island destination.

  I've been coming here for years, and the staff are consistently friendly and helpful. They provide a wide selection of fresh fruits and vegetables, ensuring I always find what I need. There's a pharmacist available to answer questions, and their liquor store features excellent prices.

  All Safeway deli/hot food are not the same!! This store fried chicken is rarely fresh compared to the other stores. Today at 5 pm, didn’t have enough chicken for an 8 piece abs he said they weren’t making anymore for the night. So I had to drive to Safeway on Beretania, where chicken is usually hot & fresh.

  My experience at this Safeway store was quite disappointing because of how the floor employees behaved. They were unprofessional and seemed not to even have the most basic training in customer interaction. There does not appear to be any or a minimal corporate behavior policy at work. Employees perform as if they are in charge of their own rules, and it is an indication of grave problems concerning management and hiring procedures. Rather than being treated as a customer, I was harassed in the process of trying to buy some basic goods. Shopping in this place is no longer a pleasant experience, not even a fast and casual affair. Due to the lack of proper treatment and professionalism, I would not refer to this place and would highly discourage going there. Customers should be cautious when using self-checkout at this location. I experienced employees physically grabbing my personal belongings, such as my phone, and making improper physical contact without consent. This behavior is alarming and completely unacceptable in a retail environment. I recommend avoiding self-checkout entirely and using a staffed register instead. I believe Corporate Management needs to seriously address employee behavior and provide training for local managers as well as new hires, as it seems there is a lack of guidance. Safeway, based in California, has impressed me during my visits to various locations. Unfortunately, I haven’t had the same experience in Oahu.
