We’re best known for our iconic bakes, fresh sandwiches, delicious hot drinks and sweet treats. Over eighty years ago, John Gregg started out with one goal: to deliver (by pushbike) fresh eggs and yeast to the families of Newcastle. Ten years later, he chained up his bike and opened Greggs of Gosforth.
Since then, we’ve opened more and more shops and have become something of a Nation’s sweetheart. Our menu has also changed with the nation’s taste. Long-standing Greggs fans among us may even remember the olden days before the hotly debated Vegan Roll, or our refreshing iced drinks.

The team were friendly, welcoming and professional, and it was clear that everyone was making an effort to provide good customer service. A special mention to Manager Malshan, who was very approachable and attentive, and to Rizly, Tanvir and Kaushika, who were all polite, helpful and friendly throughout my every week visits. It’s great to see such a positive atmosphere in the shop, with a team that genuinely seems to care about customers and the service they provide. Keep up the good work, guys! 👏 Highly recommended!

I shouldn't have to point out wrong price, everywhere else the shopkeepers offer you the best deal. The breakfast items I had were decent. Also I was given a cookie that felt days old.

Arrived to collect my too good to go bag and found the outlet within BP to be clean, tidy and greeted with a friendly warm welcoming from the member of staff working this evening (23/01/2024). He seemed very up beat in his job and still full of energy. I was impressed with the bag I got of food and impressed with the level of service recieved. I didn't have to wait long to be served and further more saw him being very polite and helpful to customer in front of me. A true asset for the Greggs business here. If people want warm food.. Here's a tip Get to the store early.. Or go home and microwave ya own food. Just as tasty cold as it is hot. Will happily return.

What happens to your leftover food?
We’ve been donating unsold food for a long time. Originally our bakeries would team up with large charities who would help distribute it to smaller organisations.
This process remains in place, though we’ve also worked hard to increase the amount of unsold food donated by our shops and we currently support a network of 1,077 local good causes.
In 2022, we redistributed 1,800 tonnes of unsold food through our Outlet shops. A share of the profits from the outlets, totalling £450,000, was then donated back into the communities we serve.
