We’re best known for our iconic bakes, fresh sandwiches, delicious hot drinks and sweet treats. Over eighty years ago, John Gregg started out with one goal: to deliver (by pushbike) fresh eggs and yeast to the families of Newcastle. Ten years later, he chained up his bike and opened Greggs of Gosforth.
Since then, we’ve opened more and more shops and have become something of a Nation’s sweetheart. Our menu has also changed with the nation’s taste. Long-standing Greggs fans among us may even remember the olden days before the hotly debated Vegan Roll, or our refreshing iced drinks.

Bear in mind this is at 12pm-1pm that we have gone. How is the food stone cold at lunch time. The staff don’t seem to care. I don’t understand how they can be consistently so cold and have no options.
- TBtheo brownAug 5, 20261.0Had the most disgusting margherita pizza from here… it was ice cold and I couldn’t even eat it because it tasted so bizarre… and as someone who doesn’t eat meat I was incredibly put off by the fact the Margherita pizza slice tasted like golden syrup mixed with the smell of a very meaty dog food??? Still don’t understand how they managed that. The server knew all the food they were providing was cold but still didn’t do anything… never going here again.
- NNNicolaJul 20, 20261.0Understand not wanting to waste food but at ten to five, not 1 desert for sale yet bags of 'too good to go bags full of deserts'. When i asked staff they explained you can collect discounted food between 4.30 & 5.30 yet they close to full paying cistomers at 5. Does not make sense. Was a regular customer but will avoid in future & go to Waterfields or Greenhalghes in Culcheth. Service like this & you really will have lots of surplus stock at the end of the day. Does that model pay ? Still, long as it suits your lazy staff to clear up early & argue the toss !!

- DIDawn IamApr 15, 20265.0Fabulous Just picked myself a bargain from " too good to go" app, i was amazed the amount of goodies i received for 3 quid. Staff lovely and welcoming. Parking. Next door to BP garage on east lancs road facing Greyhound Hotel. Would definately go again. Highly recommend.

What happens to your leftover food?
We’ve been donating unsold food for a long time. Originally our bakeries would team up with large charities who would help distribute it to smaller organisations.
This process remains in place, though we’ve also worked hard to increase the amount of unsold food donated by our shops and we currently support a network of 1,077 local good causes.
In 2022, we redistributed 1,800 tonnes of unsold food through our Outlet shops. A share of the profits from the outlets, totalling £450,000, was then donated back into the communities we serve.
