About

BakeryGreggs
Greggs is a British food to go brand, specialising in fresh bakes, sandwiches, hot drinks and sweet treats. Founded in 1939, Greggs started out selling eggs and yeast by pushbike, ten years later the first shop opened on Gosforth High Street, in Newcastle. Now, over 80 years later Greggs is a household name thanks to their tasty Sausage Rolls, Steak Bakes, Chicken Bakes, Doughnuts, Yum Yums and freshly ground Fairtrade Coffee. With shops across the UK, you're never far away from a Greggs. And with new offerings like Click + Collect and delivery to your door with Just Eat, it's never been easier to get your flakey fix. The Greggs App gives customers tasty rewards every time they shop. From sandwiches to sweet treats, hot drinks and bakes, each time you buy a product, you'll get a stamp. Collect nine stamps in a category, and the tenth item will be free. New customers can also get a free hot drink of their choice, just for downloading the app. The Greggs Foundation aims to build stronger, healthier communities across nine principle programmes including 'The Breakfast Club programme', which helps primary school children get a nutritious start to their school day. Today there are over 680 Breakfast Clubs across the UK, serving wholesome, free breakfasts to around 44,000 children every school day- that's 8.5 million meals a year.

The image shows visible dark/black and discoloured material within/around an HVAC air-conditioning unit and ductwork, with areas that appear dirty and potentially contaminated. A photograph alone cannot confirm that the material is mould, but if mould growth is confirmed, this represents a significant food-hygiene risk, particularly where the system is located above food preparation, storage, or service areas. Potential food-safety risk Airborne contamination: HVAC systems can distribute mould spores, dust, and contaminated particles through the surrounding air. These may settle directly onto exposed food, food-contact surfaces, utensils, and packaging. Direct contamination from the ceiling: The unit appears to be positioned overhead. Any condensation, deteriorating insulation, dust or mould-containing material falling from the installation could contaminate food or food-contact equipment below. Moisture indicates an underlying problem: Mould generally requires moisture. Condensation, water leakage, inadequate drainage, or damp insulation around the HVAC system should therefore be investigated rather than simply cleaning the visible growth. Mould and food spoilage: Mould spores can contribute to spoilage of susceptible foods. Certain moulds can also produce mycotoxins, although the presence of visible mould in this photograph does not establish that a particular toxin is present. Cross-contamination: Contaminated maintenance activities can spread debris and spores onto food-preparation areas if the HVAC system is cleaned while food or clean equipment remains exposed. Suggested food-safety finding High-risk hygiene concern – suspected mould/organic contamination associated with HVAC installation. Visible dark/discoloured material and accumulated contamination are present within the HVAC/ducting area located above the food-operation environment. If confirmed as mould, deterioration or contamination of the ventilation system presents a potential route for airborne and physical contamination of exposed food, food-contact surfaces and equipment. The source of moisture should be identified and rectified, and the affected HVAC components should be professionally assessed and cleaned/remediated. Until this has been satisfactorily addressed, exposed food and food-contact equipment beneath or immediately adjacent to the affected area should be protected from contamination. Important: I would avoid stating that the photograph proves a “high risk of food infection.” A more technically accurate description is “potential/high food-contamination risk due to suspected mould and HVAC contamination.” The actual risk depends on whether food is exposed beneath the unit, whether the material is genuinely mould, and whether the ventilation system is dispersing contamination.

Frequently Asked Questions About Greggs

Opening times for all Greggs shops can be found on our Shop Finder. Just enter your location into the search bar to find opening times, contact details and available facilities.

What happens to your leftover food?

We’ve been donating unsold food for a long time. Originally our bakeries would team up with large charities who would help distribute it to smaller organisations. This process remains in place, though we’ve also worked hard to increase the amount of unsold food donated by our shops and we currently support a network of 1,077 local good causes. In 2022, we redistributed 1,800 tonnes of unsold food through our Outlet shops. A share of the profits from the outlets, totalling £450,000, was then donated back into the communities we serve. We’re no longer taking new applications for end-of-day food donation partners, but we continue to identify regions where our shops could support a local charitable collection.
