  Lovely outdoor seating by the river. Only had chips but they were tasty. Very friendly girl who served us and made sure our dog Toffee had water.

  I've been here twice now and both times they didn't failed to amaze. The sandwiches are thick and well done, bread perfectly toasted, they do not skimp on the fillings either, the staff are so friendly, especially the girl with the red hair, made me and my partner laugh a couple times. Only thing I wish is that their lunch size was a bit bigger, the sea bass and resotto was so good I just wish there had been more of it, but for £13.50 to get a seabass and a pint, you can't really complain. I will be going back here for lunch more often when I can.

  We visited the kings head purely by chance as we where staying in Upton.. it did not disappoint.. The food was excellent as was the ale.. thoroughly recommend a visit.. good food good service all at a good price Regards the McGlennons

  Without doubt the slowest place we have ever made the mistake to go and eat at! The Kings Head in Upton impressed us with it’s stunning location on the old Warf front, right by the river. We booked a table for just after peak evening meal time because we expected such a great location to be packed out. However, strangely when we arrived apart from a few people sitting outside drinking, there was only one other table occupied inside. There were 3 or 4 tables outside eating so you would not say it was busy. We were seated only a short time before someone came to take our order. However after about three quarters of an hour waiting someone from the table that was already seated when we arrived, got up and complained about the wait, so I’ve no idea how long they had already been waiting. The response from the staff was “It is just getting plated up now” A line which we came to hear and know very well!!!! Anyway about a quarter of an hour later the other table was served. So we had now been waiting for an hour. When we ordered there was no advise about the wait as there is in professional pubs and restaurants. So after another quarter of an hour we asked about our meal and herd the now standard response, “It’s just getting plated up now”. After another wait of longer than it takes to plate food up we asked again and got the same response. After about another quarter of an hour we were properly hungry, so decided to leave and go somewhere else. We asked for the bill and the staff said “For everything”!!!! Obviously we said “No we have only been served drinks”. We paid and let. Unfortunately by now everywhere in town had stopped serving so it was off to the chip shop for our friends special occasion. They did not have a busy kitchen with food orders coming out one after the other to customers. Just one or two orders came out with long periods of time between. The place is obviously understaffed or they have no idea of running a restaurant. The staff were obviously well trained in saying “Your food is just getting plated up” but that is all. My advise to you is if you want to eat in the lovely town of Upton On Severn, is to eat at any of the other lovely pubs and restaurants in town. Which it has to be said were all busy with people happily eating their meals. That really should have been the clue not to try and eat in The Kings Head! If you are really sold on the lovely setting of The Kings Head and are repaired to wait a very, very long time for your food. Then best take some sandwiches to keep you going while you are waiting for your food!!!

  Wow! Popped in after hearing such amazing reviews of the refurb and it did not disappoint at all. We originally were only going in for a pint to be nosey, but saw and smelt some food came out and we then decided to get lunch.. again.. not a single crumb of disappointment! The new landlady has clearly got a passion for customer service and great food, because from the second we entered to leaving, we felt so welcome and looked after. Thank you! We'll be back same time next week!
