About

Bakery
Greggs is a British food to go brand, specialising in fresh bakes, sandwiches, hot drinks and sweet treats. Founded in 1939, Greggs started out selling eggs and yeast by pushbike, ten years later the first shop opened on Gosforth High Street, in Newcastle. Now, over 80 years later Greggs is a household name thanks to their tasty Sausage Rolls, Steak Bakes, Chicken Bakes, Doughnuts, Yum Yums and freshly ground Fairtrade Coffee. With shops across the UK, you're never far away from a Greggs. And with new offerings like Click + Collect and delivery to your door with Just Eat, it's never been easier to get your flakey fix. The Greggs App gives customers tasty rewards every time they shop. From sandwiches to sweet treats, hot drinks and bakes, each time you buy a product, you'll get a stamp. Collect nine stamps in a category, and the tenth item will be free. New customers can also get a free hot drink of their choice, just for downloading the app. The Greggs Foundation aims to build stronger, healthier communities across nine principle programmes including 'The Breakfast Club programme', which helps primary school children get a nutritious start to their school day. Today there are over 680 Breakfast Clubs across the UK, serving wholesome, free breakfasts to around 44,000 children every school day- that's 8.5 million meals a year.

Busy as usual, late as usual. Placing an order trough the app in advance (approx 30 min). Getting to the store to find out *again* that I have to wait in the corner for my order. This happens regularly as we are steady costumer. Front staff is polite and busy, but kitchen timings are to be sorted. Overall, just bragging for well ahead orders not on time. Edited 2 mins after the original review. Star drop as I have been thrown my order on the counter from staff member camed from behind. Asked for my name. I have said the number of the order and been thrown and pushed the bags towards me. No "Thanks", no "see you again", just smashed bags thrown on the counter. Thank you....

Large but fairly typical Greggs where you know what you’re getting. Upstairs toilet was appreciated by both scouts and leaders. I got my free weekly regular latte courtesy of Octopus Energy and then later we can back and bought lunch.

Went into Gregg's for a sausage roll and a sausage bean and cheese bake, they were both warm'ish what I have to guess was the manager yelling at the employees to go faster while they were trying their hardest I felt bad for them

Frequently Asked Questions About Greggs

What are your opening times?

Opening times for all Greggs shops can be found on our Shop Finder. Just enter your location into the search bar to find opening times, contact details and available facilities.

What happens to your leftover food?

We’ve been donating unsold food for a long time. Originally our bakeries would team up with large charities who would help distribute it to smaller organisations. This process remains in place, though we’ve also worked hard to increase the amount of unsold food donated by our shops and we currently support a network of 1,077 local good causes. In 2022, we redistributed 1,800 tonnes of unsold food through our Outlet shops. A share of the profits from the outlets, totalling £450,000, was then donated back into the communities we serve. We’re no longer taking new applications for end-of-day food donation partners, but we continue to identify regions where our shops could support a local charitable collection.
