Greggs is a British food to go brand, specialising in fresh bakes, sandwiches, hot drinks and sweet treats. Founded in 1939, Greggs started out selling eggs and yeast by pushbike, ten years later the first shop opened on Gosforth High Street, in Newcastle. Now, over 80 years later Greggs is a household name thanks to their tasty Sausage Rolls, Steak Bakes, Chicken Bakes, Doughnuts, Yum Yums and freshly ground Fairtrade Coffee. With shops across the UK, you're never far away from a Greggs. And with new offerings like Click + Collect and delivery to your door with Just Eat, it's never been easier to get your flakey fix. The Greggs App gives customers tasty rewards every time they shop. From sandwiches to sweet treats, hot drinks and bakes, each time you buy a product, you'll get a stamp. Collect nine stamps in a category, and the tenth item will be free. New customers can also get a free hot drink of their choice, just for downloading the app. The Greggs Foundation aims to build stronger, healthier communities across nine principle programmes including 'The Breakfast Club programme', which helps primary school children get a nutritious start to their school day. Today there are over 680 Breakfast Clubs across the UK, serving wholesome, free breakfasts to around 44,000 children every school day- that's 8.5 million meals a year.

Greggs
New Cross Hospital Wolverhampton Road, Wolverhampton, WLV
I’ve been in hospital for nearly a week now and have been spending over £15 a day at this Greggs because it’s convenient while admitted at New Cross Hospital. Normally the staff are lovely, bubbly and welcoming, which is why today’s experience was so disappointing.
I placed a Click & Collect order like I usually do and patiently waited in the queue, even though I probably didn’t need to. I politely let the staff member behind the counter know I was there to collect my order, but instead of explaining where to go, I was met with a look of disgust and completely ignored. Nobody told me there was apparently a separate side door for Click & Collect collections.
When I asked if my order was ready, I was spoken to with attitude and told, “I’m clearly stood at the side door,” despite the fact I had been standing at the till area trying to work out where to go. After that, the door was shut in my face and my drinks and food were handed over aggressively , resulting in my food being cold.
Being in hospital is already stressful and upsetting enough without being treated like an inconvenience. One staff member completely ruined what has otherwise been a positive experience with this Greggs. I genuinely won’t be returning again anytime soon after how uncomfortable and unwelcome I was made to feel today.

What happens to your leftover food?
We’ve been donating unsold food for a long time. Originally our bakeries would team up with large charities who would help distribute it to smaller organisations.
This process remains in place, though we’ve also worked hard to increase the amount of unsold food donated by our shops and we currently support a network of 1,077 local good causes.
In 2022, we redistributed 1,800 tonnes of unsold food through our Outlet shops. A share of the profits from the outlets, totalling £450,000, was then donated back into the communities we serve.
We’re no longer taking new applications for end-of-day food donation partners, but we continue to identify regions where our shops could support a local charitable collection. To find out more or nominate an organisation visit: https://www.greggsfoundation.org.uk/unsold-food-donations.
Why do you have different prices regionally?
It is very common for retailers to have regional prices. This is because the costs of running a business can vary across different parts of the country and in certain locations, for example rent costs. We always keep our prices as low as possible for our customers.
