Absolutely appalling customer service at Tesco Marina Swansea. I am 35 years old and was asked for ID. I didn’t have my physical ID with me, so I showed the staff member my HMRC app with my name and date of birth clearly displayed. I understand that this may not be an accepted form of ID and that staff have rules they need to follow — that is not the main issue. The issue was the member of staff’s attitude. She was extremely rude, unfriendly and unnecessarily difficult about the whole situation. There was absolutely no need to speak to me or treat me in that manner. If she had simply said politely, “Sorry, we can only accept certain forms of ID,” I would have accepted it and walked away. Instead, I was made to feel uncomfortable and embarrassed over a simple situation. Being asked for ID is not a problem. Being treated with disrespect by a member of staff is. Tesco should seriously consider how staff at this store communicate with customers. I left feeling angry and humiliated, and I certainly did not expect this level of customer service from Tesco.
