Complete rip off and a scam! Do not order from Papa Johns!
The menus they send out to you do not have any prices on them. We looked online at the prices and called the store to order. At the end of that call, we were quoted £81.00 for only 3 pizzas with no sides. Somehow, when we queried this, the cost was then dropped to £61.00, which initially we accepted. Still taken back by the costs, we went back online to discover that online the same 3 pizzas were only £49.00. We called the store straight back to ask why, if these could be purchased for £49.00 online, we were being charged £61.00. We were at first informed that we were wrong and had miscalculated, but then after speaking with a manager, they informed us that they have different deals depending on how you choose to order your food. Despite us having called them back within 5 minutes, they point blank refused to cancel the order to allow us to reorder online and claimed that the driver had already left the store. By this time, the order was only 9 minutes old, and we had been quoted a 45 minute delivery. (If this was true, it begs the question: how can any meal that is prepared, cooked, and out the door in under 9 minutes be worth £61.00?)
The whole thing is completely ridiculous. They should not be charging people wildly different prices depending on what method they choose to order their food. Noting that some people struggle to use the internet, so in essence, these people will in turn be resigned to having to accept the rip off of higher prices they are charging.
This is only a fast food pizza place; we’re not remortgaging a house. When ordering a meal, do not expect to have to employ a financial adviser to help us through the process and should not be required to spend time researching the best and most cost effective way to order my dinner. I know it is 2026, but you should still be able to order a meal and be given a straightforward, fair, and honest price for it. I can’t see any justification in a meal costing up to £30.00 more because it has been phoned through instead of ordered online. Staff should also be advising customers on the call of the drastic price differences before the order is allowed to go through.
I have no trust in Papa John after this experience and will never order from them again.
