Founded in 1939, Greggs started out selling eggs and yeast by pushbike, ten years later the first shop opened on Gosforth High Street, in Newcastle. Now, over 80 years later Greggs is a household name thanks to their tasty Sausage Rolls, Steak Bakes, Chicken Bakes, Doughnuts, Yum Yums and freshly ground Fairtrade Coffee. With shops across the UK, you're never far away from a Greggs. And with new offerings like Click + Collect and delivery to your door with Just Eat, it's never been easier to get your flakey fix. The Greggs App gives customers tasty rewards every time they shop. From sandwiches to sweet treats, hot drinks and bakes, each time you buy a product, you'll get a stamp. Collect nine stamps in a category, and the tenth item will be free. New customers can also get a free hot drink of their choice, just for downloading the app. The Greggs Foundation aims to build stronger, healthier communities across nine principle programmes including 'The Breakfast Club programme', which helps primary school children get a nutritious start to their school day. I stopped off for something to drink after spending 1h 50m driving from Swindon because the motorway was closed I ordered a latte and the kind staff said I could have any sandwich free of charge as they still hadn't sold all of them due to motorway They actually said I could have as many sandwiches as I liked, but I'm not greedy and only took one I think my mother in law would have been stuffing her capacious handbag ;) So I'm having a nice rest, munching on a nice ham and cheese baguette

About four hours ago we bought a mixture of things, but the lady behind the counter was extremely rude and didn't know how to do a Monzo treat while buying a breakfast. Unfortunately, she had also burnt half of the food on the display, which had caused customers to be, well, not very happy. Also not great when the food is so cold. Honestly, for the price of what you get here, it's difficult to really recommend. Well, really anything about this place. Maybe best just avoid it. Not the best, Greggs. I mean, to be fair, the rest of the food options are not great either.

We’ve been donating unsold food for a long time. Originally our bakeries would team up with large charities who would help distribute it to smaller organisations.
This process remains in place, though we’ve also worked hard to increase the amount of unsold food donated by our shops and we currently support a network of 1,077 local good causes.
In 2022, we redistributed 1,800 tonnes of unsold food through our Outlet shops. A share of the profits from the outlets, totalling £450,000, was then donated back into the communities we serve.
