  Terrible service, store shuts at 10pm, rock up at 9:53 I understand getting everyone out but there are 7 minutes left not 1 or 2 minutes. Another thing to add horrible attitude from the workers standing at the door laughing with passive aggression.

  I visited the Leigh store on Sunday 26th July. At 4:45pm — a full 15 minutes before the store’s official Sunday closing time of 5pm as listed on the Tesco website — a tannoy announcement was made stating the store would close in 5 minutes. I had joined the back of a short queue (two customers ahead of me), leaving a gap so other shoppers could pass through. While my wife and I were discussing picking up one more item, a member of staff stepped into that gap and told me I wasn’t in the queue. I explained clearly that I was, but was told by the assistant, alongside a colleague, that they had “been there 10 minutes” — which was not accurate. Despite explaining the situation, I was made to join a different checkout. Beyond the inaccurate closing time, I found the assumption that I wasn’t queuing, and the attitude when I corrected this, unnecessary and unprofessional. This wasn’t an isolated impression — it felt indicative of wider issues at this store around early closures and staff conduct. I don’t write reviews like this lightly, but as someone who runs my own business, I know how important it is for ownership/management to be aware when standards are slipping at store level. I’d encourage Tesco to look into both the early-closing pattern and staff training at the Leigh branch.

  Go to tesco all the time and shocked to see people stood around doing nothing with one till open and a massive queue
