Greggs is a British food to go brand, specialising in fresh bakes, sandwiches, hot drinks and sweet treats. Founded in 1939, Greggs started out selling eggs and yeast by pushbike, ten years later the first shop opened on Gosforth High Street, in Newcastle. Now, over 80 years later Greggs is a household name thanks to their tasty Sausage Rolls, Steak Bakes, Chicken Bakes, Doughnuts, Yum Yums and freshly ground Fairtrade Coffee. With shops across the UK, you're never far away from a Greggs. And with new offerings like Click + Collect and delivery to your door with Just Eat, it's never been easier to get your flakey fix. The Greggs App gives customers tasty rewards every time they shop. From sandwiches to sweet treats, hot drinks and bakes, each time you buy a product, you'll get a stamp. Collect nine stamps in a category, and the tenth item will be free. New customers can also get a free hot drink of their choice, just for downloading the app. The Greggs Foundation aims to build stronger, healthier communities across nine principle programmes including 'The Breakfast Club programme', which helps primary school children get a nutritious start to their school day. Today there are over 680 Breakfast Clubs across the UK, serving wholesome, free breakfasts to around 44,000 children every school day- that's 8.5 million meals a year.

Honestly, I have no idea why this place is even open.
Your card machine doesn’t work, your payment system is down, and you still expect customers to stand there like everything is normal.
In 2026, not being able to accept card payments is beyond unacceptable—it’s a sign of poor management and zero professionalism.
If you can’t provide the most basic service, then close the store until you fix your issues instead of wasting people’s time.
This was one of the most frustrating and disappointing experiences I’ve had, and it shows exactly how little effort is being put into running this place properly.

I have been to Greggs for the last 4 days in a row, the last 3 have had absolutely terrible service. At the weekend I, and about 6 or 7 customers, including 3 or 4 families, were left waiting for around 10 minutes because there was only 1 person on the till. Yesterday the restaurant was empty, I waited for several minutes whilst staff out back saw, but ignored me. Even though they had seen me, there was no hint of an apology until I spoke to the manager, even then it was very belated.

Use this store regularly for breakfast and have always been a happy customer, but sadly the service is not what it was. Staff are polite, but the wait time to get a simple breakfast roll is just ridiculous. It took 20 minutes from queuing to receiving my order this morning and others in the queue also seemed a bit irritated with the delay.
This has happened a few times now and no disrespect to the lady serving, but she is just too slow to be managing the front on her own.
When I eventually got to eat my roll, the bread wasn't even sliced properly and fell apart. Don't like to leave reviews like this, but these few recent experiences have made me not want to use this store anymore unfortunately.

What happens to your leftover food?
We’ve been donating unsold food for a long time. Originally our bakeries would team up with large charities who would help distribute it to smaller organisations.
This process remains in place, though we’ve also worked hard to increase the amount of unsold food donated by our shops and we currently support a network of 1,077 local good causes.
In 2022, we redistributed 1,800 tonnes of unsold food through our Outlet shops. A share of the profits from the outlets, totalling £450,000, was then donated back into the communities we serve.
We’re no longer taking new applications for end-of-day food donation partners, but we continue to identify regions where our shops could support a local charitable collection. To find out more or nominate an organisation visit: https://www.greggsfoundation.org.uk/unsold-food-donations.
Why do you have different prices regionally?
It is very common for retailers to have regional prices. This is because the costs of running a business can vary across different parts of the country and in certain locations, for example rent costs. We always keep our prices as low as possible for our customers.
