- CMCallum McsorleyJun 1, 20261.0As a Penarth local I had a very strange experience here recently which was comical😂 Tuesday afternoon I came here with my girlfriend to buy ingredients for dinner and also a 4 pack of tiny rebel for a gift. At the till I was asked for ID, which despite being 27 is fair enough and I presented my driver license. My girlfriend (30) was standing next to me and has a digital ID which is common in Eastern Europe, we were then refused service and were berated by the employee saying it “wasn’t worth my job”. As the tiny rebel were a present I said I would get my mum from the car to purchase them (again I’m 27 and my partner 30) 😂😂. Despite my mother being 55, the employee said that this would not be possible. We left the store frankly bewildered that in essence a 27, 30 and 55 year old all with government accepted ID had been refused service for alcohol less than 2 pints. Funny stuff

Tills were jam packed so decided to quickly grab a few more items as we would of just been stood in the queue anyway but this lady followed us and spoke rudely to finish our shopping NOW. I understand it's Sunday and she wanted to finish work but speaking to customers like that is totally unacceptable especially when spending close to £200 at that shop! Never had this happen in any other store and definitely won't be back to this one after this, she needs to re-think her attitude...
