About

Bakery
We’re best known for our iconic bakes, fresh sandwiches, delicious hot drinks and sweet treats. Over eighty years ago, John Gregg started out with one goal: to deliver (by pushbike) fresh eggs and yeast to the families of Newcastle. Ten years later, he chained up his bike and opened Greggs of Gosforth. Since then, we’ve opened more and more shops and have become something of a Nation’s sweetheart. Our menu has also changed with the nation’s taste. Long-standing Greggs fans among us may even remember the olden days before the hotly debated Vegan Roll, or our refreshing iced drinks. Whether you’re into a hot sandwich, a pasta salad, some delicious chicken goujons or a fresh cold sandwich – our meal deals are doing the most in a mouth-watering way. Bundle on whichever side takes your fancy. We’re talking crispy Southern Fried Potato Wedges, a classic bag of crisps, protein-packed egg pots, fruit pots or creamy yoghurt. Plus, grab a drink to top it all off. From a classic Latte or a Mocha to a Raspberry Lemonade or a crisp Iced Mango & Strawberry Cooler – it’s yours. Pre-order on Click + Collect to skip the queue like a VIP, or get what you want delivered to your door via Just Eat or Uber Eats. Whichever way you have it - there’s definitely one thing better than a Greggs – and that’s a FREE Greggs. The Greggs App has never been tastier. Packed full of seriously stomach-rumbling news, rewards and ways to order – it really is the inner circle for all things yummy. Plus, it’s a sure-fire way to bag some free treats - and who doesn’t love a free treat?

I was in here per chance paying for my fuel at the Asda till, I couldn't help but observe when I walked in there was a person going to grab a sandwich from Greggs however I was aware they were closed. The chap that was at the counter expressed his apologies to the customer and instantly tried to help her with an alternative solution of a too good to go bag, which I thought was fantastic! So once I paid my fuel I headed over to him to say "well done! I was impressed with your brilliant customer service there" this in turn made his day 👏 and the dominoe effect was. He offered customer a solution, which made her day! I heard this improv, which made my day! I made him aware of this, which made his day! And I in turn bought a too good to go bag too, which made my sons day! Can it get better than that from one kind courteous gesture? So huge well done to said young man, (shame i didnt get his name) and of course Greggs for hiring him. I will be back on Wednesday again for a too good to go bag haha 😄 👌

Frequently Asked Questions About Greggs

What are your opening times?

Opening times for all Greggs shops can be found on our Shop Finder. Just enter your location into the search bar to find opening times, contact details and available facilities.

What happens to your leftover food?

We’ve been donating unsold food for a long time. Originally our bakeries would team up with large charities who would help distribute it to smaller organisations. This process remains in place, though we’ve also worked hard to increase the amount of unsold food donated by our shops and we currently support a network of 1,077 local good causes. In 2022, we redistributed 1,800 tonnes of unsold food through our Outlet shops. A share of the profits from the outlets, totalling £450,000, was then donated back into the communities we serve. We’re no longer taking new applications for end-of-day food donation partners, but we continue to identify regions where our shops could support a local charitable collection.
