  Very disappointed in this tescos, as a tesco colleague the last thing id expect is for someone from another store to racially profile my partner and her mother, to watch them over shoulder every second and accuse them of stealing when theyve already checked whats been scanned numerous times and then to check their receipts and say they didnt pay for everything all because my colleague discount was applied, then after accuse them of something that we arent even supposed to be doing. Absolutely appalling considering ive already had issues at this store myself. This was the last thing i expected from a store this high traffic.

  I am very disappointed with my experience at Tesco today. My mum and I were using Scan as You Shop and were approached by a member of staff at the self-checkouts multiple times throughout our visit. The lady (whose name I unfortunately didn’t catch) came over on four separate occasions to check our receipt, our shopping, and even our pyjamas purchase. She also put our shopping bags through for us, despite us not asking for assistance. The repeated checks made me feel as though we were being treated with suspicion and assumed to be stealing. At no point did the Scan as You Shop system indicate that a full check of our shopping was required, yet we were continually questioned and monitored. The most upsetting part was when we were leaving and she stopped us again to check our receipt because she believed we had not scanned our pyjamas. I had already explained that we were using a colleague discount, but this seemed to be ignored. By this stage, I felt extremely patronised and embarrassed. I completely understand that staff have a responsibility to prevent theft and carry out checks when necessary. However, there is a difference between doing your job and making customers feel singled out and under suspicion throughout their entire shopping trip. What concerns me most is that my mum and I were speaking a language other than English while shopping. I sincerely hope that this was not a factor in how we were treated, but given the level of scrutiny we experienced compared to other customers and other reviews I have read, it is difficult not to wonder. Overall, this experience left me feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome. I would appreciate Tesco looking into this matter and reminding staff that customer service should be respectful and professional at all times.

  Manager was rude and gave me a lecture about not shopping in the correct pattern, will not be going back and will be lodging a formal complaint about this
