Greggs is a British food to go brand, specialising in fresh bakes, sandwiches, hot drinks and sweet treats. Founded in 1939, Greggs started out selling eggs and yeast by pushbike, ten years later the first shop opened on Gosforth High Street, in Newcastle. Now, over 80 years later Greggs is a household name thanks to their tasty Sausage Rolls, Steak Bakes, Chicken Bakes, Doughnuts, Yum Yums and freshly ground Fairtrade Coffee. With shops across the UK, you're never far away from a Greggs. And with new offerings like Click + Collect and delivery to your door with Just Eat, it's never been easier to get your flakey fix. The Greggs App gives customers tasty rewards every time they shop. From sandwiches to sweet treats, hot drinks and bakes, each time you buy a product, you'll get a stamp. Collect nine stamps in a category, and the tenth item will be free. New customers can also get a free hot drink of their choice, just for downloading the app. The Greggs Foundation aims to build stronger, healthier communities across nine principle programmes including 'The Breakfast Club programme', which helps primary school children get a nutritious start to their school day. Today there are over 680 Breakfast Clubs across the UK, serving wholesome, free breakfasts to around 44,000 children every school day- that's 8.5 million meals a year.
Food to customer service to cleanliness to location is very good. Could do with a bit of cleanup on and around the tables. When their bakery and drinks are properly made then it’s very nice, one of my favourite branches. Staff are polite and their hot chocolate is amazing and cheese and onion pastie when fresh and warm is delicious. I tried their other pasties also vegetarian of course and not disappointed. Don’t get me wrong they taste nice when cold and when you reheat properly but there is something else about when it’s fresh and freshly out of oven. Also, they got good selection of things and it’s nice place to sit while I wait for my bus to work or just generally sitting down.

6:52 pm.. I was ignored. The lady kept cleaning and the door was locked. Don't mention 7pm if the door is locked by 6:45.

Normally I like Greggs a lot, but this one was particularly dirty with soiled floor and tables left uncleared. Service was efficient but unsmiling even when I tried to make friendly conversation. I ate in for an hour 1330-1430 at the weekend and saw nobody cleaning during that time. I ended up cleaning the previous customer's mess from my own table and saw another customer do the same. Customers should not have to do the cleaning.Toilet was dirty and had also run out of paper which wasn't a problem for me but could be for others. This contrasts to McDonalds where there are always cleaners on duty. With such a central position in Headington and next door to a Costa, I would have thought Greggs needs to make more effort.

What happens to your leftover food?
We’ve been donating unsold food for a long time. Originally our bakeries would team up with large charities who would help distribute it to smaller organisations.
This process remains in place, though we’ve also worked hard to increase the amount of unsold food donated by our shops and we currently support a network of 1,077 local good causes.
In 2022, we redistributed 1,800 tonnes of unsold food through our Outlet shops. A share of the profits from the outlets, totalling £450,000, was then donated back into the communities we serve.
We’re no longer taking new applications for end-of-day food donation partners, but we continue to identify regions where our shops could support a local charitable collection. To find out more or nominate an organisation visit: https://www.greggsfoundation.org.uk/unsold-food-donations.
Why do you have different prices regionally?
