Greggs is a British food to go brand, specialising in fresh bakes, sandwiches, hot drinks and sweet treats. Founded in 1939, Greggs started out selling eggs and yeast by pushbike, ten years later the first shop opened on Gosforth High Street, in Newcastle. Now, over 80 years later Greggs is a household name thanks to their tasty Sausage Rolls, Steak Bakes, Chicken Bakes, Doughnuts, Yum Yums and freshly ground Fairtrade Coffee. With shops across the UK, you're never far away from a Greggs. And with new offerings like Click + Collect and delivery to your door with Just Eat, it's never been easier to get your flakey fix. The Greggs App gives customers tasty rewards every time they shop. From sandwiches to sweet treats, hot drinks and bakes, each time you buy a product, you'll get a stamp. Collect nine stamps in a category, and the tenth item will be free. New customers can also get a free hot drink of their choice, just for downloading the app. The Greggs Foundation aims to build stronger, healthier communities across nine principle programmes including 'The Breakfast Club programme', which helps primary school children get a nutritious start to their school day. Today there are over 680 Breakfast Clubs across the UK, serving wholesome, free breakfasts to around 44,000 children every school day- that's 8.5 million meals a year.

I recently stopped at the MFG Charging Station on Chester Road in Manchester and it was one of the smoothest EV charging experiences I’ve had locally. This site is part of MFG’s ultra-rapid EV charging network it has eight high-power chargers capable of giving around 100 miles of range in roughly 10 minutes, which is perfect whether you’re commuting or on a longer trip.
What really sets this stop apart is the Greggs on site. After plugging in to charge, it’s easy to walk over and grab a coffee, a sausage roll, or pretty much any of the freshly-baked favourites Greggs is known for. The shop at the MFG Stretford EV station has regular opening hours throughout the week, and whether you want a savoury bite or a sweet treat, it’s a nice complement to the charging experience.
Having food, drinks, and snacks right next to rapid chargers makes a big difference. Instead of just standing around waiting for your EV to juice up, you’ve got a comfortable place to relax, grab something tasty, and get back on the road feeling refreshed. It also makes the whole visit feel more like a pit stop with purpose instead of just a technical stop to plug in. Greggs is known for good quality at reasonable prices, which makes this pairing with the MFG hub especially welcome.
The layout of the site is straightforward, access is easy from the A56, and there are clear ways to pay and start the charge through apps like Zap-Pay or the MFG EV Power app. If you’re in the Manchester area and need a reliable place to charge with added convenience food on hand, this is one of the best options I’ve found.
Highly recommended for EV owners looking for a stress-free charge with a tasty stop the combination of fast chargers plus a friendly Greggs shop is a win.

Not sure what is wrong with this place at the moment, but it absolutely stinks when you walk in. It closed for a couple of weeks and I think they’d sorted it, but the smell is atrocious. There is also a change of staff, maybe management and they’re very rude. Can stand there for a good few minutes before anyone even bothers to come and serve you.

Had a really poor service yesterday, I ordered one item and they got it wrong. No apology and barely any communication at all, nothing like my local greggs were the staff are polite and friendly

What happens to your leftover food?
We’ve been donating unsold food for a long time. Originally our bakeries would team up with large charities who would help distribute it to smaller organisations.
This process remains in place, though we’ve also worked hard to increase the amount of unsold food donated by our shops and we currently support a network of 1,077 local good causes.
In 2022, we redistributed 1,800 tonnes of unsold food through our Outlet shops. A share of the profits from the outlets, totalling £450,000, was then donated back into the communities we serve.
We’re no longer taking new applications for end-of-day food donation partners, but we continue to identify regions where our shops could support a local charitable collection. To find out more or nominate an organisation visit: https://www.greggsfoundation.org.uk/unsold-food-donations.
