In my 20s we used the Redmore Inn a lot because of its country atmosphere and its quality food.We were in the area house hunting and decided on a 'memory trip' and go to the Redmore for lunch. I am now in my 60s and unfortunately it now does not come close at all now, which is a shame. I know its changed hands a few times and the 'new look' does have a nice appeal to it. However, it's a shame that not all has improved. We sat in the side lounge area where there was/were quite a few flies pestering folks . I know its been warm but when food is about it needs to be addressed as it simply is not acceptable . Considering the amount of folks in the pub eating food , we were surprised on how long an order was taking to be served? It is very important to state that the staff (Two ladies) were excellent at the front of house . They were doing their best to bring about a smile and really very pleasant whilst folks waited for their food . I personally thought the food was really poorly presented and not of the value it was supposed to represent. We ordered the Traditional Beer battered Fish and Chips with Tartare sauce and garden pease and the Steak and Butcombe Ale pie and sides. With two drinks the bill came to £46 . The fish was most definitely over cooked and resembled that of a couple of battered fish fingers joined at the base! The peas came in a small pot and were possibly out of a packet and discoloured . By that they were green/ white -frozen issue possibly, don't know ? Not good enough . The photo of the Steak pie was very misleading and nothing like it shows it on their web site in full glory with timings suitable for its value. It simply was nothing like its image on their web site! What is wrong with presentation now a days? A couple of ladies sitting close by told us to send it back but we declined purely because it is not in our nature to do so. We thanked them and said it was fine and carried on. The one lady did ask if she could take a photo of the meal first though which we agreed to . She said she would let the owner know . (We got the impression that she knew them? ) All in all...Very disappointed and the memory of what was, now long gone from what it used to be like. This was put on here purely because when we got home ..it did become a talking point and we did say to each other that perhaps we Should have said something at the time? If nothing else ...we have actually learned something from the two ladies at the Redmore Inn who sat by us and that is to actually stand up and make a fuss next time. Perhaps we may just do that ? Really sorry if it offends any one but it just spoiled our day and made a memory questionable? Sad shame that.

Visited for my Mom's birthday and ordered cottage pie, fish and chips, scampi and the steak and ale pie. Everything with OK, apart from the steak and ale pie which could only be described as burnt from the inside out. It was inedible and we returned it for a steak. The steak was requested to be medium but it was well done. The table next to us also ordered the steak and ale pie and they also complained that it was burnt describing the pastry as cardboard. Sadly this is our 2nd visit where we've been very disappointed with the food. The Sunday lunches are still food, but it's the mid week menu that disappoints, a shame as its a lovely pub
