Greggs is a British food to go brand, specialising in fresh bakes, sandwiches, hot drinks and sweet treats. Founded in 1939, Greggs started out selling eggs and yeast by pushbike, ten years later the first shop opened on Gosforth High Street, in Newcastle. Now, over 80 years later Greggs is a household name thanks to their tasty Sausage Rolls, Steak Bakes, Chicken Bakes, Doughnuts, Yum Yums and freshly ground Fairtrade Coffee. With shops across the UK, you're never far away from a Greggs. And with new offerings like Click + Collect and delivery to your door with Just Eat, it's never been easier to get your flakey fix. The Greggs App gives customers tasty rewards every time they shop. From sandwiches to sweet treats, hot drinks and bakes, each time you buy a product, you'll get a stamp. DO NOT GO TO HERE!!!
I love a nice Greggs however the staff are truly vile and the counters were dirty.
I walked in and asked if the sausage cheese and bean melts were still hot…I was then met with a look of disgust by this particular middle aged (greasy looking) female member off staff, ‘they’re not gonna be hot are they it’s a warm counter’ I was told scoffingly. I then asked politely if they were still warm, said member of staff death stared me picked the item out of the and was told to feel it then or else get out.
It was at this point where I was sick of being spoken to like I was nothing I asked here (again politely) why she was being so rude…said member of staff subsequently told me - spitting and gritting her teeth - ‘I’m just doing my job and you’re being picky so go and grab the melt and see if it’s good enough for ya’ I don’t know about anyone else opinion but this is absolutely appalling customer service.
I then asked said member off staff ‘why are you being so patronising toward me I’m only trying to get my food’ the member of staff then raised her voice at me causing the whole shop including customers to turn around - thus causing unnecessary commotion - I then said I’m not arguing with you and paid for my food was told not to bother sitting down by said member of staff. While leaving I was met by a sarcastic ‘ta ra’ by said member of staff.
Appalling.
Vile.
Dirty.
Said member of staff was unprofessional laughing with her colleagues after.
This all occurred around 1130 am on Thursday 13 August.
Store is also in need of an expansion as you couldn’t swing a cat around In it.
I did not catch said members of staffs name however the member off staff was female, brown hair, definitely looked older than her age however I’d guess it was around 40 but her anger has definetly not done her any favours in the ‘age looking’ department.
Reading other reviews I’m sure this is not a first and it certainly won’t be a last.
Note: I have never had any problems with Greggs as a business however this particular store needs serious attention put toward it.

mmm sausage rolls 😋 they’re the best sausage rolls I’ve ever had, excluding my nans sausage rolls. but that’s not really a fair comparison as nans food is better than any food ever. however, if I’m in the mood for a sausage roll, I know where to go as Greggs is just around the corner

What happens to your leftover food?
We’ve been donating unsold food for a long time. Originally our bakeries would team up with large charities who would help distribute it to smaller organisations.
This process remains in place, though we’ve also worked hard to increase the amount of unsold food donated by our shops and we currently support a network of 1,077 local good causes.
In 2022, we redistributed 1,800 tonnes of unsold food through our Outlet shops. A share of the profits from the outlets, totalling £450,000, was then donated back into the communities we serve.
We’re no longer taking new applications for end-of-day food donation partners, but we continue to identify regions where our shops could support a local charitable collection. To find out more or nominate an organisation visit: https://www.greggsfoundation.org.uk/unsold-food-donations.
