About

Bakery
Greggs is a British food to go brand, specialising in fresh bakes, sandwiches, hot drinks and sweet treats. Founded in 1939, Greggs started out selling eggs and yeast by pushbike, ten years later the first shop opened on Gosforth High Street, in Newcastle. Now, over 80 years later Greggs is a household name thanks to their tasty Sausage Rolls, Steak Bakes, Chicken Bakes, Doughnuts, Yum Yums and freshly ground Fairtrade Coffee. With shops across the UK, you're never far away from a Greggs. And with new offerings like Click + Collect and delivery to your door with Just Eat, it's never been easier to get your flakey fix. The Greggs App gives customers tasty rewards every time they shop. From sandwiches to sweet treats, hot drinks and bakes, each time you buy a product, you'll get a stamp. Collect nine stamps in a category, and the tenth item will be free. New customers can also get a free hot drink of their choice, just for downloading the app. The Greggs Foundation aims to build stronger, healthier communities across nine principle programmes including 'The Breakfast Club programme', which helps primary school children get a nutritious start to their school day. Today there are over 680 Breakfast Clubs across the UK, serving wholesome, free breakfasts to around 44,000 children every school day- that's 8.5 million meals a year.

Unfortunately, I found the interaction quite unpleasant. There appeared to be a misunderstanding with my order, and instead of resolving it calmly, she became argumentative.

Absolutely ridiculous today! Went through the drive through as we had the dogs in the car. Watched 3 cars go through the other order point (took 15-20minutes for their orders to be taken also!) Before I decided I'd had enough and went to the collection window. Explained the situation and got "we dont control which side our headsets go to".. there needs to be a better system in place then. Did my order at the window, no sausage rolls or steak bakes yet I still got charged for a steak bake which I explained 3 times whilst doing the order I did not want the steak bake as it wasnt in stock and I was having the chicken bake. Neither of our meals were put through as a meal deal coming to £17 with the steak bake. Went into store to ask for the steak bake to be refunded and was met with "they were in the oven!". Thankfully a chap, who i can assume is a supervisor or shift lead stepped in to refund the steak bake before I blew a god damn fuse at the place! He is the ONLY reason I gave 2 stars for service, otherwise it was pretty dire!

Went to grab a few lattes this morning and thought to use drive-through as there was only 2 cars waiting. After 15 minutes of waiting a server finally takes my order through intercom and asks me to drive round. Then 10 minutes later I get to the till to hear he’s forgotten my order. I then place my order for two lattes, ask my app to be scanned and he says it’s gone through. I pay and when I ask for a receipt, he says first he can’t give me one. I tell him I need one and then after 3minutes gives me one that shows that I’ve paid full price as my loyalty card with discounts has not been registered. Very bad service today, not sure if staff need more training or if they’re understaffed. I could see 2 people on shift and there wasn’t many customers around so guess it’s a question of training. Shame as I normally get a good service at Greggs.

Frequently Asked Questions About Greggs

What are your opening times?

Opening times for all Greggs shops can be found on our Shop Finder. Just enter your location into the search bar to find opening times, contact details and available facilities.

What happens to your leftover food?

We’ve been donating unsold food for a long time. Originally our bakeries would team up with large charities who would help distribute it to smaller organisations. This process remains in place, though we’ve also worked hard to increase the amount of unsold food donated by our shops and we currently support a network of 1,077 local good causes. In 2022, we redistributed 1,800 tonnes of unsold food through our Outlet shops. A share of the profits from the outlets, totalling £450,000, was then donated back into the communities we serve. We’re no longer taking new applications for end-of-day food donation partners, but we continue to identify regions where our shops could support a local charitable collection.
