The Bells was our first stop on vacation, and if the rest of the trip is this good, we’re in for an incredible few weeks.
The star of the show was Maya. In fact, five stars for the restaurant and another five for Maya. She was friendly, funny, welcoming, and somehow made us feel like regulars despite it being our first visit. We casually asked how her day was going and somehow ended up with complimentary glasses of Prosecco. That’s service you don’t forget.
Maya recommended the steak sandwich, and I am forever grateful. It was ridiculously good. The kind of meal that has everyone at the table taking bites and immediately regretting not ordering one themselves.
Naturally, we also ordered the fish and chips. We were in England, after all. They were exactly what you hope for—crispy, perfectly cooked, and absolutely delicious.
Then there were the fries. Maya confidently declared they were the best she’d ever had. That’s a bold statement. Turns out she was right.
A couple of perfectly poured Guinnesses later, we were wondering whether we’d accidentally stumbled into the best pub in Surrey on our very first day.
Great food, great drinks, and one of the most delightful waitresses we’ve ever met. Maya deserves 10 stars. Frankly, it’s a little unfair to every restaurant that has to follow this act.

Went later on Sunday for a roast dinner. It was delicious, and the staff seemed very nice. One thing spoiled the evening though. After checking what I was charged against the menu, I spoke to the server and was told I had been charged a £5 (18%) service charge that was then refunded.

We have been visiting this pub on a Friday or Saturday evening for a while .
Tonight we arrived about 7.15 and didnt stay very long because they had a dj out on the patio which sounded dreadful against the church bells that are played every friday evening, hoping the DJ on a friday isn't a regular thing .

The bell? The worst pub in Staines?
Shoddy.. to say the least. If you are thinking of visiting the bell for meal, make sure you Alow 2 hours for food service. We visited for ‘long distance family meal’ as we have done for many years. On arrival our orders were taken. The service staff couldn’t have messed it more up if they tried. After 2 hours Main meals were served before starters, children’s meal (which were requested to come out with starters) came out STONE last and cold! Dishes had components missing. We then watched the last 2 dishes to be served (burgers) sit on the hot tray for 10 minutes, before we asked if they were ours. When we approached the manager TOM. And asked why our meals had been sat there, he got very up tight RUDE and then started lying! Saying the burgers had just been prepared. And that we must have imagined it! How a guy like this can run a pub is beyond me, no customer service. No general service. Apparently they were surprised with the booking size 10 people? I would normally understand but they’re was only 1 more table in the hole pub eating! Which by the way also got sick of waiting and paid for they’re drinks and left. Absolutely shocking! This pub won’t last long. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME
