  I was shopping this evening (Tuesday 4th August 2026, at 17.00) for wine and soft drinks for my husband’s 80th birthday party. I asked the chap on Customer services if he would mind getting me a larger trolley as mine was overflowing. He not only cheerfully obliged, he then helped me through the checkout with it and pushed the very heavy trolley to my car for me and helped me load it into the car as I was struggling a bit. Big thanks to him, he is a credit to Tesco Customer Service.

  Have noticed items getting smaller, even though the price is the same. And if they're going to keep removing normal manned tills, and swap for self service, the staff could be more aware of customers that need help and not chat so much while we're waiting.

  I don’t usually leave reviews, but I felt I had to after my experience last week. I came into the store with my young grandchildren and was struggling to keep them away from the bagging area in the trolley self service. The young woman working there, who had long dark hair, was incredibly patient and helpful. She spoke kindly to my grandchildren and helped me without making me feel embarrassed or rushed. I also noticed that she treated the woman behind me with the same kindness as her children were doing something similar. She reassured both of us that we were in the trolley selfservice area and were allowed to take our time. It may seem like a small thing, but simple kindness and reassurance can make such a difference, especially as a mother coming into the store with young children. I completely understand that some customers can sometimes be difficult or testing, but a smile and a friendly attitude really do go a long way. I have been shopping at this Tesco since moving to Guildford in 2023 and unfortunately, I haven’t always had the best experiences with the staff. I genuinely feel the store as a whole could benefit from some additional training around customer service and attitude. That said, this particular member of staff was kind, smiley and patient. Her hair was covering her name tag so I wasn’t able to catch her name but I really hope this review is passed on to her and that she receives the recognition she deserves. I would also like to mention that the customer toilets could do with a more thorough clean.
