What a find! On holiday from Eastbourne and we had just climbed the highest point in the Mendips. Lunch beckoned and we chose the Plough just by chance. So glad we did, amazing food and equally amazing service. Beautiful venue too, so comfortable. Will definitely be returning. Thank you!!

Sometimes you find a place by accident that you know you’ll deliberately return to. The Plough is one of those places. Having dropped people off at Bristol Airport, we were looking for somewhere for Saturday lunch and found The Plough through its excellent Google reviews. Nestled in a quiet village, it looked inviting from the outside — but it was the welcome when we walked through the door that really set the tone. Kayla, the manager, was fantastic. Warm, friendly and refreshingly honest, she explained that a birthday party was about to arrive and that she wouldn’t be able to seat us for food for around 25 minutes. Instead, she found us somewhere comfortable in the bar and promised she would look after us as soon as she could. She was absolutely true to her word. In fact, every member of the team we encountered was friendly, attentive and genuinely customer-focused. Nothing felt forced — it simply felt like a pub where people really care about their customers. And then came the food. We started with monkfish scampi with crab mayonnaise and a crab crostini. Both were superb. The monkfish arrived piping hot in a beautifully crisp, clean batter, and the crab mayonnaise was absolutely delicious. For mains, we chose the makhani monkfish curry and ham hock with egg and chips. Again, faultless. Beautifully cooked, full of flavour and — perhaps the best review you can give any kitchen — both plates went back completely clean. We even found room for the mini dessert and hot drink offer! Stunning food, a lovely environment and, most importantly, a fantastic team led by Kayla who made what could have been an ordinary Saturday lunch really memorable. It’s about an hour from home for us. We’ll be back.

First visit to this pub as Bristol airport dining didn't impress. 10 minute Uber ride from the airport and well worth it. Great food and service. Would recommend 😊
