My partner and I have ordered from Domino’s for years, and from Domino’s Slough regularly for around the last year. We order multiple times every month, usually through my partner’s Domino’s account, and until today I have never once felt the need to leave a negative review.
This experience was completely different.
We placed an order and paid for delivery to our flat, as we always do. When the driver arrived, he called my partner and demanded that she come downstairs to collect the order because he claimed there was nowhere to park.
My partner recently underwent major surgery during childbirth and currently has very limited mobility. We also have a newborn baby. She explained that she was unable to come downstairs, but frankly that shouldn’t even have been the issue. We paid for delivery, not collection. The purpose of paying a delivery fee is to have the order delivered to your door.
Instead of handling the situation professionally, the driver became rude, argumentative and aggressive. The conversation went back and forth before he eventually told her he could not deliver the order and hung up on her.
I could hear the way he was speaking to my partner and was shocked by his attitude. I had to stop what I was doing and go down myself to find out what was going on.
When I got downstairs, the driver continued insisting that he could not complete the delivery. The entire situation was completely unnecessary and could have been resolved with basic professionalism and common courtesy.
To make matters worse, after I eventually collected the order myself, I later discovered that an item was missing from it. I then spoke with Ruby, who was polite, apologetic and genuinely tried to help resolve the issue. However, while I was still trying to sort everything out, the driver simply got into his vehicle and drove away.
The issue here is not the missing item or the compensation that was later offered. The issue is the driver’s conduct. No customer should be spoken to in that manner, hung up on, or expected to collect their own order when they have specifically paid for delivery.
After ordering regularly from Domino’s for years and from this branch many times over the last year, I am genuinely disappointed by how this was handled. One driver’s attitude managed to turn what should have been a simple food delivery into an unpleasant and stressful experience for our whole family.
Absolutely unacceptable.
