About

BakeryGreggs
Greggs is a British food to go brand, specialising in fresh bakes, sandwiches, hot drinks and sweet treats. Founded in 1939, Greggs started out selling eggs and yeast by pushbike, ten years later the first shop opened on Gosforth High Street, in Newcastle. Now, over 80 years later Greggs is a household name thanks to their tasty Sausage Rolls, Steak Bakes, Chicken Bakes, Doughnuts, Yum Yums and freshly ground Fairtrade Coffee. With shops across the UK, you're never far away from a Greggs. And with new offerings like Click + Collect and delivery to your door with Just Eat, it's never been easier to get your flakey fix. The Greggs App gives customers tasty rewards every time they shop. From sandwiches to sweet treats, hot drinks and bakes, each time you buy a product, you'll get a stamp. Collect nine stamps in a category, and the tenth item will be free. New customers can also get a free hot drink of their choice, just for downloading the app. The Greggs Foundation aims to build stronger, healthier communities across nine principle programmes including 'The Breakfast Club programme', which helps primary school children get a nutritious start to their school day. Today there are over 680 Breakfast Clubs across the UK, serving wholesome, free breakfasts to around 44,000 children every school day- that's 8.5 million meals a year.

As someone who has visited a number of Gregg's shops in the past, this one stood out to me with its excellent selection of fresh baguettes, as well as a good hot food selection, alongside the usual baked goods at the counter. I was also pleased to see the good selection of hot drinks and cakes that rounded off the excellent offer here in a clean and welcoming shop.

Very rude, ignorant & discriminating behaviour from LINDSAY. I went in today as a courier to collect two uber orders, I waited quietly in the collection area and no one acknowledged I was there and no one said hi to me either. Later I thought maybe I was in the wrong queue therefore I lined up in the queue where no regular walk in customers line up, once I reached my turn to the counter she told me that I need to go back to the waiting area and stay there until the order is ready. I asked very calmly how long the order will take he said she doesn't know and I asked can you please check she checked and told me they will take about five minutes. She later asked me for my the two order numbers and I gave them to her and she checked again, one was already ready which he handed. Turns out it was already ready, but she ignored me purposely and delayed the order, hence making it colder when it gets to the customer. Therefore I asked how long for the other one and she responded five minutes. When I asked her she gave me a very rude stare which gave me the impression I was not welcome at that branch. I felt out of place, being disrespectfully treated by her and her behaviour was not profession at all, she has no customer service skills and she was very rude to me via her tone. Very discriminating towards me I felt I was not allowed in that establishment at that time looked at me as if I was in the wrong place and I should not be there as if I am not a welcome in the environment. She said 'sorry for the wait' to all walking customers, but said not like that to me. Clearly she treats couriers and walk in customers differently due to (probably) a personal bad experience in her past, which is conflict of interest. She has ZERO customer service skills, unprofessional, incompetent, rude, ignorant, disrespectful and very discriminating. Someone like her should not be working there at all. Her tone gave me the impression that she thought she was above courier drivers and can treat them with disrespect and however she wishes, which is very wrong! Someone like her wouldn't last an hour working for me, as I do not tolerate discriminating staff members. They don't understand that we take the food to their customers, who have in fact paid more that regular walk in customers, ie, app charges, delivery fee etc. and this is how they want to treat us. To all courier drivers, please avoid this branch like the plague. The staff member is called Lindsay, I hope the managers see this and take action. If this behaviour continues, couriers will simply stop picking up from this branch and they will begin to loose money via app orders, Simple!!

I popped into Greggs hoping for a quick, comforting bite, but instead I got what felt like a culinary dare. The bacon in my sandwich wasn’t just overcooked—it was practically weaponized. Honestly, I half expected it to come with a warning label. Each bite felt like I was chewing on something sharper than a razor blade, and not in a crispy, satisfying way—more like a “why am I doing this to myself?” kind of way. For a place known for quick, tasty food, this was seriously disappointing. If I wanted something this tough, I’d have chewed on my car keys instead. Definitely not the experience I was hoping for.

Frequently Asked Questions About Greggs

What are your opening times?

Opening times for all Greggs shops can be found on our Shop Finder. Just enter your location into the search bar to find opening times, contact details and available facilities.

What happens to your leftover food?

We’ve been donating unsold food for a long time. Originally our bakeries would team up with large charities who would help distribute it to smaller organisations. This process remains in place, though we’ve also worked hard to increase the amount of unsold food donated by our shops and we currently support a network of 1,077 local good causes. In 2022, we redistributed 1,800 tonnes of unsold food through our Outlet shops. A share of the profits from the outlets, totalling £450,000, was then donated back into the communities we serve. We’re no longer taking new applications for end-of-day food donation partners, but we continue to identify regions where our shops could support a local charitable collection.
