We’re best known for our iconic bakes, fresh sandwiches, delicious hot drinks and sweet treats. Over eighty years ago, John Gregg started out with one goal: to deliver (by pushbike) fresh eggs and yeast to the families of Newcastle. Ten years later, he chained up his bike and opened Greggs of Gosforth.
Since then, we’ve opened more and more shops and have become something of a Nation’s sweetheart. Our menu has also changed with the nation’s taste. Long-standing Greggs fans among us may even remember the olden days before the hotly debated Vegan Roll, or our refreshing iced drinks.

- MEMark EvisonFeb 13, 20261.0I’m a regular at this Greg’s as I work close by and it serves a purpose, but today I have been humiliated by the staff after being followed out of the shop and shouted at and demanded to return for non payment. When I returned to the counter she again shouted so the whole shop could hear you haven’t paid. My calm response was except I have, she looked at the screen and said oh yes you have I didn’t check that bit, no attempt to make up for HER mistake, also the hygiene isn’t the best I’m sure your not supposed to handle money then food and all other Greggs I’ve used ware gloves to prep food, I would avoid here and go to Craven Arms or Shrewsbury, Much better both directions

Some staff needs to be tough respect tho. As came in and a staff member name Kirsty was talking about other staff members to customer no need for that but other wise a good store to go to for a quick bite to eat.

We’ve been donating unsold food for a long time. Originally our bakeries would team up with large charities who would help distribute it to smaller organisations.
This process remains in place, though we’ve also worked hard to increase the amount of unsold food donated by our shops and we currently support a network of 1,077 local good causes.
In 2022, we redistributed 1,800 tonnes of unsold food through our Outlet shops. A share of the profits from the outlets, totalling £450,000, was then donated back into the communities we serve.
