Very put off and felt on edge with the “no labour MPs allowed” signs on the doors before entering. A public house is open to the public and should be a place where people of any political persuasion should and can sit without judgement or if the conversation arises should be open to discussion without judgement or ridicule regardless of what someone like clarkson pipes on about being taxed to the hilt (who can easily afford it and isn’t a nice man or representative of the man in the street). If it had st georges or union flags flying outside I’d have not entered and did hesitate when I saw the signs as said. Disappointing no local or cask ales on offer, which says a lot when you think about the anti-labour signs, ironic really. Plenty of parking in the car park (spaces are narrow though) and a small beer garden on offer. Village pub and filled with lots of locals too. Maybe when the railway station re-opens it’ll get broader clients from all over and if they remove the political signs it’ll attract others or feel less judgemental. Every pub everywhere has had to pay higher rates due to sugar tax brought in by the Tories and the rates were something brought in by Sunak which is what people forget or don’t realise. It’s also why alcohol in general has had ABVs lowered to keep those costs down per pint or can by the brewery’s. However since Covid prices have just risen sharply without reason whilst wages haven’t and we had major austerity since 2010 and the general money funnelled upwards thanks to a worldwide recession we never really recovered from. Hardly a Labour MPs fault considering as a majority party they’ve been in at time of writing for only two years and it takes a while for laws and legislations to actually go through! I’ll try the plough next time I’m passing, but I hear whilst they do casks they don’t do hot food and I didn’t have chance to try the food on my visit here in the week and I’m sure it’s lovely. Sports on tv too. This one also dog friendly and even has their own pub dog. Spacious U shaped country pub with a pool table at the back too. Staff seemed friendly enough but again I felt on edge with the political signs so not as relaxed as I could have been. PS it’s providing not proving in your bio guys…
