Founded in 1939, Greggs started out selling eggs and yeast by pushbike, ten years later the first shop opened on Gosforth High Street, in Newcastle. She recommended i did the £5 meal deal to make sure i made the most of money! I appreciated that she went above and beyond and was honest and efficient when working! Horrendously understaffed consistently. I love a Greggs but I just don’t bother waiting at this store anymore. Usually dirty and understocked too. Burger king across the way does a nice coffee and sandwich deal and you get your breakfast a lot quicker. I will say i’ve never had any issues with staff themselves and they seem very stressed and overworked.

- DHDan HainesApr 22, 20261.0Food is mid and for no reason more expensive then every other Greggs when you work in the mall sadly it’s one of the only takeaway places I feel for the guy that was working the the till he had a long line like usual and the rest of the people working including the manager was just stood around the back I think the guy serving was called amgumg. That man deserves a pay rise the manager needs to fix their rotas and make sure to have a second person serving during the whole day as the queue will forever end outside the store.

What happens to your leftover food?
We’ve been donating unsold food for a long time. Originally our bakeries would team up with large charities who would help distribute it to smaller organisations.
This process remains in place, though we’ve also worked hard to increase the amount of unsold food donated by our shops and we currently support a network of 1,077 local good causes.
In 2022, we redistributed 1,800 tonnes of unsold food through our Outlet shops. A share of the profits from the outlets, totalling £450,000, was then donated back into the communities we serve.
