We’re best known for our iconic bakes, fresh sandwiches, delicious hot drinks and sweet treats. Over eighty years ago, John Gregg started out with one goal: to deliver (by pushbike) fresh eggs and yeast to the families of Newcastle. Ten years later, he chained up his bike and opened Greggs of Gosforth.
Since then, we’ve opened more and more shops and have become something of a Nation’s sweetheart. Our menu has also changed with the nation’s taste. Long-standing Greggs fans among us may even remember the olden days before the hotly debated Vegan Roll, or our refreshing iced drinks.

- MBMark B.Sep 16, 20261.0Why is it sooooooooo difficult for your site and franchise management to apportion responsibility to one shift member to maintain product that you advertise as being available to sell, very very few outlets actually have a full range of product to sell that’s ready and doesn’t require a 5 or 10 minute wait, I don’t understand, surely you don’t wait until you’ve sold your last litre of diesel before you order another tanker load, so, why not cook bacon when you’ve got like 5 rashers left in the tin…? What am I missing, nothing I guess because your staff can’t see that you have 2 steak bakes or, 2 of anything left on the counter so maybe cook some more, are you that scared of food waste that at 07:50 on a Wednesday morning you’re thinking that another 15/20 rashers of bacon won’t sell in the next THREE hours and will go to waste…? Is that it…? He’s a thought for you… You can’t sell what you haven’t cooked and people won’t wait around for you to do so. Totally unreliable and because of that, tomorrow I’ll stop a junction earlier and spend at Maccys!
- LLLennyJul 10, 20261.0The staff really need to be trained on hygiene. I've seen lots of bag practice since they opened but today I decided I won't be eating there again. After watching one staff member handle cash, then use a broom, wipe his hands on his shirt and trousers before making a roll. It's nit the first time I've seen this there. They will make someone very ill soon.

We’ve been donating unsold food for a long time. Originally our bakeries would team up with large charities who would help distribute it to smaller organisations.
This process remains in place, though we’ve also worked hard to increase the amount of unsold food donated by our shops and we currently support a network of 1,077 local good causes.
In 2022, we redistributed 1,800 tonnes of unsold food through our Outlet shops. A share of the profits from the outlets, totalling £450,000, was then donated back into the communities we serve.
