  Been here 5 or so times in the past couple of years when the other shops in town are really busy. Every time we order our drinks, something is either run out ie. Oat milk, TEA SPOONS, and even large cups. Which we have to wait to be washed up. We wouldn’t mind but the place is only ever about 20% filled up with customers. We always wait so long for the drinks to be made. Slow, underprepared, under stocked, and did I mention slow. Every time I stand waiting for the drinks, it’s like they are running on a go as slow as possible policy. Just seeing staff with Apple Ear Buds in is enough to see that they are not dialled in on their job. The shop already has music playing. And it’s more expensive than all the other shops. So you expect a great service and things to be in stock.

  Popped in for lunch on a quiet Wednesday afternoon. Their music selection was great and the seats comfortable. Lovely coffee and the peaches and cream shake was great too, not sickly sweet, I’d certainly order another sometime. Jacket potatoes were very fluffy and the salad garnish good too we chose the chicken tikka and tuna mayonnaise toppings and neither was a disappointment. If I had to be picky, I’d say that the service was a little slow, but we weren’t in any rush for a lazy lunch in sunny Sudbury.

  Lovley food! Pancakes were great! Pesto and nduja toastie was also amazing!

  Really disappointed with my experience this morning. There was nobody else waiting at the till when I arrived, and whilst there were some people already seated who had ordered (an order of three drinks) people who came in after me were served their drinks before me. There were three members of staff milling about, they weren’t crazy busy and playing catch up. I had to ask twice if my drink was on its way (and apologised for asking) and said that I was in a hurry. There was no acknowledgement that I had been waiting 15 minutes for a single drink to take away, let alone an apology. They must have messed up the order of drinks or lost my order. If I hadn’t asked for a second time I’m not convinced they’d have even wondered why I was stood waiting at the end of the bar. As soon as I was handed the cup I could tell it was 80% foam, but I was running too late to argue. Bad coffee, not worth the wait, and cost me a fiver. Complete disappointment. I hadn’t been to Esquires for a while but I certainly won’t be back, and I now understand why there was no queue in there, when Costa and Toast had huge ones. If my experience is a common occurrence, I have no doubt Esquires will be closing in the near future.
