Greggs is a British food to go brand, specialising in fresh bakes, sandwiches, hot drinks and sweet treats. Founded in 1939, Greggs started out selling eggs and yeast by pushbike, ten years later the first shop opened on Gosforth High Street, in Newcastle. Now, over 80 years later Greggs is a household name thanks to their tasty Sausage Rolls, Steak Bakes, Chicken Bakes, Doughnuts, Yum Yums and freshly ground Fairtrade Coffee. With shops across the UK, you're never far away from a Greggs. And with new offerings like Click + Collect and delivery to your door with Just Eat, it's never been easier to get your flakey fix. The Greggs App gives customers tasty rewards every time they shop. From sandwiches to sweet treats, hot drinks and bakes, each time you buy a product, you'll get a stamp. Collect nine stamps in a category, and the tenth item will be free. New customers can also get a free hot drink of their choice, just for downloading the app. The Greggs Foundation aims to build stronger, healthier communities across nine principle programmes including 'The Breakfast Club programme', which helps primary school children get a nutritious start to their school day. Today there are over 680 Breakfast Clubs across the UK, serving wholesome, free breakfasts to around 44,000 children every school day- that's 8.5 million meals a year.

The staff here always make my day with their cheery disposition and smiley faces. I'm glad to pay a few pence extra as it's a premium store with premium people. Keep up the great work Chloe and team. đ

I regularly stop at this Gregg's, 2-5 times a week in the morning.
Firstly, 80% of the staff are absolutely lovely and friendly, but it is chronically understaffed most mornings which can result in queues that just aren't acceptable when your customers are attempting to catch trains. There is a certain 20%, mostly management, who if I see are on in the morning I know are either going to slow down the process even further, or quality is liable to go out the window. I've had to forego breakfast here many times due to not having enough time to wait in an unexpected queue, where the week before I may have been in and out in minutes.
I'll normally get a breakfast roll and hot drink. The drink is usually fine, nothing breathtaking but easily drinkable. The roll can be very hit-or-miss, sometimes overflowing with well-cooked bacon, with the right amount of sauce, other times you get a roll that looks like it's been torn open, with a single sad, anemic looking piece of bacon, and sauce covering the roll in ways you couldn't conceive. These are again normally served by the 20% mentioned above, or by the newbies who evidentially haven't been trained correctly (so no shade at them). I've had some pretty cold pizza in the past, and avoided the place on warmer summer days after seeing flies happily enjoying their choice of food from the hot counter a couple times in the past.
Atmosphere again comes down to the staff on shift. You get the right crew on and it's nice and welcoming, you get the wrong crew and it becomes as welcoming as a cemetery.
Overall from what I've seen, the issues with the place are primarily down to staff numbers and management. If these were addressed I think it would make a big impact on the business.

Very dirty shop. Dirt inside the unit and the outside table was filthy. It doesnât give you much confidence in the cleanliness of the place.

Max was so so patient when we had expected our pizza to be hot. We are used to a Greg's where stuff is sold so quickly it is hot.
We appreciate him đ

What happens to your leftover food?
Weâve been donating unsold food for a long time. Originally our bakeries would team up with large charities who would help distribute it to smaller organisations.
This process remains in place, though weâve also worked hard to increase the amount of unsold food donated by our shops and we currently support a network of 1,077 local good causes.
In 2022, we redistributed 1,800 tonnes of unsold food through our Outlet shops. A share of the profits from the outlets, totalling ÂŁ450,000, was then donated back into the communities we serve.
Weâre no longer taking new applications for end-of-day food donation partners, but we continue to identify regions where our shops could support a local charitable collection. To find out more or nominate an organisation visit: https://www.greggsfoundation.org.uk/unsold-food-donations.
Why do you have different prices regionally?
It is very common for retailers to have regional prices. This is because the costs of running a business can vary across different parts of the country and in certain locations, for example rent costs. We always keep our prices as low as possible for our customers.
