  Last week, during the poor weather we’d been having, my walking stick gave a wee slip as I came in — just one of those things with the rain, especially at my age. A tall young lad working there noticed straight away and came over to help. He walked me to a chair and made sure I was settled properly. As it was quiet, he kindly took my order while I was seated and even made it himself, never expecting me to get back up. Another young man, with long hair, was just as considerate and offered me a glass of water while I rested. I really can’t speak highly enough of the two of them. A credit to themselves and to Helensburgh. We’d all be better off if more young folk showed the same kindness and thoughtfulness.

  The two staff members on duty are such wonderful young men. They always make sure the subs are well-filled, which is a real treat since some subways are quite stingy. I popped into the store today, and the younger one had a great laugh with me. I hope subway corporate reads about this!

  Having heard that Kieran Tierney had set up a food bank for the Hamas Green Brigade Division, I arrived expecting to be fed but was only met with men arguing over Sevco accounts and throwing metal sharks about. Someone ended up getting hurted.
