Founded in 1939, Greggs started out selling eggs and yeast by pushbike, ten years later the first shop opened on Gosforth High Street, in Newcastle. Now, over 80 years later Greggs is a household name thanks to their tasty Sausage Rolls, Steak Bakes, Chicken Bakes, Doughnuts, Yum Yums and freshly ground Fairtrade Coffee. With shops across the UK, you're never far away from a Greggs. And with new offerings like Click + Collect and delivery to your door with Just Eat, it's never been easier to get your flakey fix. The Greggs App gives customers tasty rewards every time they shop. From sandwiches to sweet treats, hot drinks and bakes, each time you buy a product, you'll get a stamp. Collect nine stamps in a category, and the tenth item will be free. New customers can also get a free hot drink of their choice, just for downloading the app. The Greggs Foundation aims to build stronger, healthier communities across nine principle programmes including 'The Breakfast Club programme', which helps primary school children get a nutritious start to their school day. Today there are over 680 Breakfast Clubs across the UK, serving wholesome, free breakfasts to around 44,000 children every school day- that's 8.5 million meals a year.

It’s always a convenient place to grab something quick and affordable, with plenty of options like sandwiches, pastries, and sweet treats. The food was fresh and ready quickly, and the sausage roll was especially good as usual. The drink was made well too and served fast. Service was friendly and efficient, and even though it was fairly busy, the queue moved quickly. The shop was clean and well organised, making it easy to order and leave without any hassle. Overall, another solid experience — great for quick, tasty food on the go.

Lovely food and great staff service. Only issue was it is so popular there was a massive queue. Always seems to be similarly busy as its the best place for a bite on the move in the area. Good value too. I had a meal deal which I think was a sandwich, crisps, yogurt and drink. Inflation is bad so this seemed a fair deal.

The sandwiches and pastries were well prepared, and everything looked appetizing. I especially appreciated the consistency and quality of the products. Overall, I’m very satisfied with my visit. What happens to your leftover food?
We’ve been donating unsold food for a long time. Originally our bakeries would team up with large charities who would help distribute it to smaller organisations.
This process remains in place, though we’ve also worked hard to increase the amount of unsold food donated by our shops and we currently support a network of 1,077 local good causes.
In 2022, we redistributed 1,800 tonnes of unsold food through our Outlet shops. A share of the profits from the outlets, totalling £450,000, was then donated back into the communities we serve.
